Cigarettes Not Smoked

Oh yes, I know what you mean. My taste buds have definitely changed since stopping the smokes and the change in smells...well, I have always been very sensitive to certain smells. Now, everybody says I have the nose of a bloodhound. All my senses have heightened. Great stats, by the way. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 119 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 958 Amount Saved: $446.25 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 16 Mins: 19 Seconds: 25

Hi, I have the same thing but I think it's not always a good thing. I smell the things who stink even better than the things who smell good. I love the smell of parfume and food but the smell of old smoke I hate. Never thought I say this but it's true...lol. Don't you love it? Buy some fresh bread from the bakery and the red pepper and artichoke tapenade (near the olives, pickles and relish) OMG it is so yummy with a hot cup of tea. Buy fresh pineapple. You never tasted anything better! How about the smell of bacon onion and garlic simmering on the stove? Fresh cut grass? The smell of a new shower curtain liner straight out of the package? I could go on...... Isn't is grand? I am so greatful to know I'm not the only one going through this, I was starting to wonder if I'd lost my mind. lol Seems to be alot of different phases to quiting ... With the dreams of smoking and trying hide it (in my dreams) and I've never hid the fact I was a smoker.lol One night I even dreamed I was smoking a pencil so that know one would catch on to me. (See why I feel silly asking questions??) I didn't quit like I had planned to, I lit a cigarette one night and it made me so sick I thought I'd never stop vomiting and when I tried to lite up the next day I couldn't bring myself to inhale. Mind you, I had just bought the carton but I just couldn't smoke them. I still have the carton, I placed a pack in my car and left the rest in the house ... any time I feel I want to smoke I know I have them close enough to have one and before I complete the thought of wanting one I'm already over the crave. I don't know why this has worked for me but I feel truly blessed by it and knowing I have a place to ask questions about some of the changes only reinforces me wanting to stay smoke free. If I can be of any help to any of you I would be honored to do so. Thank you for YOUR support on my journy :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 196 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,896 Amount Saved: $1568 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 19 Mins: 27 Seconds: 52

For those that have quit smoking I'd like to know if you found that your taste in food changed ... and if you found things smell different. I'm sure this sounds silly but here goes. I have been smoke free for a few months and all of a sudden things I used to eat taste different, flavors are strong or more spicey. My perfume smells different ... I know this sounds completely nuts, it's not like I stopped eating or smelling these things but over night all this has changed. Anyone else had this happen??? Please let me know, I feel dumb asking but I truly don't know anyone else to ask. Thank you, :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 195 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,870 Amount Saved: $1560 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 17 Mins: 17 Seconds: 6

You are not alone, allot of people on here have stated the same things. My taste is better than it was, but the thing I notice most is my sense of smell. I can smell like never before, and thats not always a good thing lol :) Congratulations on your quit, doesn't it feel wonderful. oh yes, yes! Our sense of smell and taste have been turned up a notch....or that's what it seemed like to me. Then somewhere along the way things settled in and began to smell and taste normal....don't know whether I just got "used" to the new hightened senses or if they calmed down, but I no longer seemd to notice smells and tastes. My daughter says that her sense of smell is still almost overly acute. We're all different, so go figure.
