Irritabilities

Hi Steven and welcome to our little quit family. When you feel irritable and need to vent, use these boards. We have been where you are now and completely understand the needing to let it all out somewhere. Better to take it out on us than your wife. Also, remember to take a lot of deep breaths and think before you speak. You are in control of your actions and thoughts. Drink a lot of water, deep breaths, and one step at a time. We have a saying around here called N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever. As long as you follow that one simple rule, you've got it made. Congratulations on your decision to quit! Coming here to vent is the best solution, but it isn't always possible. If you can't, then try to take it out on something neutral, like a pillow. Make sure your wife understands if you do happen to "misbehave" that it is the addiction, not you, that is doing it. Apologies in advance do work. I do suggest that you try to bleed off pressure in spurts, though. Don't try to just it up or hold back for later. That's asking for big trouble. The best course is to let it out as it builds. Just make sure those around you (if they matter) know what's happening. People can be quite understanding and forgiving if they simply have some idea of what is really happening.
