Penquin,I love and benefit from your honesty and exploration. Thank You. You're absolutely right. We owe it to ourselves to be considerate and caring to ourselves- in some cases, no one else will. You talk about fears and blunted feelings. It's easy to stiffle these. Thank you penquin for being out beaker. We want to make sure that we keep you within our life ring.

Now that makes a lot of sense. Especially with my quit coming up, I'm really trying to quell the fears. Not that there's a huge amount of fear, but its always there in the back of your mind.
Nice quote.
Cheers, Jan
I have just finished reading a book I started around the time I initially started quitting in October. It's called 'Emotional Alchemy' by Tara Bennett-Goleman and I wanted to share with you one of the last paragraphs that, I think, says a lot about what many of us experience during our quit jouney.
"When we can be open to feelings we've been avoiding, perhaps for years, we find that we no longer have to be afraid of them. To be able to look honestly at our own minds, our emotional reactions and patterns, takes courage. To look uncompromisingly at our fears and our attachments and not run away, blunt our feelings, or hide behind pretense takes a strength of heart. Such honesty demands that we empathize with ourselves, staying connected to our experience no matter what unpleasantness, pain, or discomfort that brings us. It amounts to an act of kindness toward ourselves."
Just wanted to share.
