I was just surfin elsewhere on da net and ran across some interesting facts that I thought I would copy and paste into this thread.

� Smoking is the cause of about 30% of all cancers and 80-90% of lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of death for men and has just surpassed breast cancer as the leading cause of death for women.
� National Academy of Sciences studies have found that nonsmoking wives of smoking husbands have a 35 percent higher risk of lung cancer compared with women whose husbands don't smoke.
� Smokers have two times greater risk of dying of heart attacks and three times greater risk of dying of strokes than nonsmokers
� Pipe and cigar smokers are 3-5 times more likely than non-smokers to develop cancer of the mouth and esophagus

Lady, it is scary if ya think about it.
Silver, I gotta admit...when ever I saw stuff like this before my quit, I just turned on the deaf ear, or the blind eye, whichever you want it. Now that I am quit, I like to read everything I can about tobacco and how bad it is, just as a reminder that I REALLY dont want to start smoking again.
Hopefully, this stuff will effect somebody else in the positive way it effects me. :)

If the government made it completely illegal, they wouldnt have all that tax money comin in. Big tobacco companies have a big influence on Washington D.C. If they quit contributing, the political parties would actually have to get out and work for campaign money. Wouldnt that be so sad if they had to do that? (NOT).

Hi Tony- this is the kind of stuff I absolutely REFUSED to read or listen to when I was still smoking. Change the channel, pleeeeeeasseeee!! Now I just look at that list and shake my head. Lots of it applies to be in a residual way. :(

What really p*$$e$ me off is that we have all this evidence about how harmful tobacco is and yet it is LEGAL. So glad it is banned just about everywhere in CA. Don't like the cig nazis but the damage to health is irrefutable. :mad:
