Welcome to the site. I am glad you found us. Have you work on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy(CBT) before? This program is based on CBT. CBT if the most evidence-based therapies for depression.
I cannot answer any of your questions related to your medication but I encourage you to continue to research. I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
Hello. I am new to the group and think it is going to be my salvation. I never suffered with depression until I had my first child and had Post Partum Depression. With my second it was much, much worse. I have been on a variety of medication since then. Some combinations will work for a while then just stop. I have to go through the withdrawal process and begin another combination. I cannot tolerate SSRI's as they make me manic although I have no history before or since of bipolar disorder. I am currently on Cymbalta, Topamax due to migraines, ambien for chronic insomnia, vyvanse for ADD, and Adderal in the afternoon to combat the irritabilty and issue with mood when Vyvanse wears off.
My question is - I am still suffering from major depressive episodes even with meds. Since I only began taking or needing medication due to Post Partum, when that cleared up, shouldn't I have come off the meds? Could they be making me worse? I haven't been off of them in 25 years. I would never attempt to come off them without a doctor's assistance, but I was just wondering if anyone else had had a similar experience.
