Well here it is Thursday. Two days till we go. Every morning I wake up feeling worse and worse. My days and evenings go good though. Still eating and sleeping. Just waking earlier.
We opted to leave Sat instead of Friday afternoon so we'd avoid the traffic jams of friday night here in our county and at the bridge we have to cross first thing.
Thank you Again Cheryl
Well its Wed. 3 days till we leave.
I went to bed relaxed and woke up early nervous....I am trying to take baby steps and take my day one hour at a time.
I am eating and sleeping so that part so far is good. I am just drained by this all.
Thinking about your trip is stressing you out so its going to take a toll on your body. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest and you are hydrated. Don't neglect yourself. Pack and get the kids stuff together well in advance. The night before you leave take a nice long bubble bath and try to get to bed early. The more relaxed you are the better you will be able to deal with this.
I always find that if I'm tired or hungry before taking a road trip, it just adds to my stress level.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Cheryl
Thank you Cheryl!
Going with my hubby and our kids. I usually get very carsick if I am not driving but I think this time I may be a passenger so I can so exactly what you suggested.
I will pop in here till I leave and again when I return to give you all the update. =0)
Who's going with you? Will you be driving or riding?
When I use to have take road trips w/my ex-husband and he was driving I would sometimes get in the back seat w/a pillow and blanket and try to sleep. When I was up front I would put in a book-on-tape and close my eyes and listen to the story. I always made sure I was comfortable. I'd take off my shoes, have my pillow (even up front) to lean on and I've have snacks, drinks and magazines with me. It really helped to make myself feel relaxed and the car actually became my "safe-place."
Best of luck and keep us posted. If you feel anxious during the week, come in here and vent. We're here for you.
Thank you Susanne!!
Using all resources available to me to make it through till Saturday.
Trying to think positive. =0)
Thankfully hubby and kids will be with. And we can take our time getting there.
Hello shedav6,
The anxiety of actually making the trip and adding to it the family emergency cannot be helping. I would suggest that you use relaxation techniques (slow breaths in, slow breaths out) and really try and introduce some positive thinking into your day. A little bit at a time until the trip. Stay close to the site, we'll help you through this.

Well the time has come for me to HAVE to make it to CO. Gpa is dying. =0(
I have not left my state since my breakdown in 2001. I haven't left my county since summer of 2003 due to anxiety.
Now I am planning this trip to CO and was fine with it till this week. We leave Sat and here it is Tues and the old anxiety machine is cranking. I am so darn nervous. Thinking about the drive, the traffic jams, the last drive from Co, what I'll see once there with gpa.....you name it and its goign through my head. HUGe Mammoth butterflies are racing around my tummy. I can't back out cause it would break alot of hearts including my own. And yet I feel so weak.....HELP!
