my breathing bothers me

Hi brabak. Thank you sooo much for responding to my message. The more people respond and reassure me that i'm ok, the better i feel! It feels better to know that i'm not alone and that this is JUST anxiety. I am actually going on to my 5th week of the program. but i put it on hold for now cause i decided to take my time working on my goals (you will see this in week 4). But this program has helped me ALOT in educating myself about panic disorders. If i didn't join this program, i would have never been able to learn about anxiety/panic. I just feel really bad some days because i cannot literally convince myself that this is just anxiety. And i really just want this anxiety to GO AWAY. I guess i just get impatient with trying to be strong and trying to work through this alone. Because it is demanding and it is hard. Especially when I feel like i have no energy everyday and i feel like i cannot breath or function normally. But i am only 21 and i would like to enjoy my life, not fear it. I'm trying, believe me I am. It will just take time with me because i am afraid of it. So just pray for all of us to get through this! we can do it!

Angel, I have the exact same symptoms. I constantly monitor my breathing. It took me a few weeks to realize that it is 100% anxiety. Trust me, you cannot hurt yourself. There have been times where I thought my breathing was so off, I was sure I was going to pass out. In fact, I remember times feeling dizzy and lightheaded. Fortunately, (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it!) these, too, are symptoms of anxiety. I never passed out and my Therapist says that people don't pass out during panic attacks. I too, have not yet figured out how to turn off the anxious thoughts about my breathing. However, from my experience, I know it can't hurt me - so I don't panic about it anymore. The program here is helping me understand my anxious thoughts (I'm only on week 2). Are you doing the program?

Thats ok Angel when i read your post i had to respond because i have felt like that for the past few months since my panics started.I even carried a paper bag with me in case i hyperventilated but im proud to announce that as of 2 weeks ago i have been leaving home without it :)I have been for 4 days without a panic and prior to that one it was 6 days so i feel i am getting on top of my panics and anxiety so there is hope for you ok.I know with my breathing my therapist had me do a small amount of exercise once a day until i learnt to tolerate the whole breathing heart racing thing and although i still think bad things will happen i tell myself its anxiety to my bodies natural reactions to exercise and usually im fine.I also feel like im sending myself crazy having all this self talk going on but there are days where i dont notice it as much anymore so thats good.Take care. lulu..

Thanks lulu for replying so quickly. Deep deep down inside, i know this is probably anxiety. But i hate when i try to CONVINCE myself that its NOT anxiety. Its like my mind is playing games me with and it is WINNING. I keep thinking i have asthma, a disease, an infection, an organ problem etc.....and i hate this lulu. I really do, my mind is NEVER resting. Even when i'm sleeping i'm dreaming of my anxiety. I mean, give it a break already :( So, you even experienced heavy breathing when you are simply walking? Cause i know maybe i need to work out more....but even exercise makes me have heavy breathing ( i guess this is normal but i seem to forget what normal is because i'm so used to anxiety). I have started yoga 5 months ago...but my school has made me SO BUSY that i have had no time to do it on a regular basis. So i think i should start making more time for that. Thanks so much! muah

Angel my dear Angel it is all anxiety i can tell you that with certainty and the more you worry about it the worse it will become i know i have been there over and over.It was one of the main reasons i would panic i would feel like i was holding my breath at times and would have to make myself breathe other times i was rapid breathing 25 breaths per min the norm is around 12-15 i have found yoga is fabulous for teaching you how to breathe correctly and i use its techniques often.Practice deep breathing you will be ok just keep telling yourself its all anxiety and cannot hurt you.Take care. Hi everyone. I'm really scared because my breathing is bothering me. I think I have mentioned this earlier about the tight throat feeling and the difficulty breathing. But I need opinions about whether these are normal symptoms of anxiety? Cause i experience it EVERYDAY. I cannot even walk to my class without feeling like i cant breath.....and so I panic. I keep telling myself that i have asthma. And then I have all these racing thoughts about me having asthma. I hate this. I had a breathing test a year ago and it was fine. Right now as i'm typing, i dont' feel like my breathing is normal. But then again, do u think its because i'm THINKING about my breathing all the time thats causing this to happen? Does anyone experience this too on a daily basis? should i go test it out? or is it just anxiety> Plz help ! i feel like i want to cry :(
