Hereditary panic disorder

for 20 år siden 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I am just starting the programme and have a question about whether or not hereditary panic disorder can be helped by CBT. It's something I've tried without success in the past, but I'm hoping different programmes... The reason I ask is that I have never avoided any situations in the 13 years I have experienced panic disorder. I've never left the room or changed my behaviour in any way. I know I am not going to die or go crazy and the panic does not appear to be associated with anything in particular. I am the 4th generation in our family to experience panic disorder -(the last 3 generations are all still alive) -and we've all been described as 'treatment resistent' -resistent to meds and CBT! None of us is agoraphobic or avoid any situations- yet, the panic and anxiety still comes. Do you think there could be some people where there is only a genetic cause - which will not be alleviated by any talking therapy? Many thanks Meline
