Hi, Ann! I'm sorry your doctor won't run tests. Even though my new family doctor knows I have anxiety, depression and panic disorder, she did run a full battery of blood work and a urinalysis, just to make sure there was nothing else wrong(and did find a urinary tract infection, that I did not realize I had). I think she felt that it's better to be safe than sorry, because there are physical illnesses like thyroid disease that mimic our symptoms.
It is true, that we tend to come up with something new that could be wrong (heart, brain tumor, etc.), but, I keep telling myself over and over again that my doctor says my blood is healthier than hers...and it helps a lot. And, now, I trust her to know that if I tell her I don't feel well, she won't just blame it on the anxiety disorder...she'll run tests and/or thoroughly check me out.
Remember, we do get sick like other people...lol (too bad, huh?)! I would have never known I had a urinary tract infection if she didn't do the test. I felt sick, but didn't have the "regular" symptoms we usually get and never would have thought to ask her to check for that. (I was actually doing what I usually do...blaming my anxiety for how I was feeling!)
So, you may want to discuss it with your doc again and explain your concerns. They would test someone else without panic disorder if they came in and said they had pains through their head or didn't feel well. (I'm sorry...I just feel like we get overlooked sometimes because the anxiety is an easy answer for some doctors...not all, of course.)
Anyway...best of luck to you, again! And, remember, turn the negative thoughts into positive ones and you will feel much better!!!
:)
