straight to the ER

Hello again, I ve been to ER only 2 times so far (and I admit that it really worsen the situation) ,but there has been tens of times that I left home to go there but most of the times my panic had lost its intensity on my way to ER. The funny thing is I know there is nothing wrong with my heart because I am only 30 and running 3 times a week (45min each) and working out regularly. But a panic can strike when I only walk up to the 2nd floor or run 15 meters to catch a bus. Today my doctor also told me that I can start Anafranil again (but only 30 mg a day). Take care

Yep, me too. It's about a year since I've last been to an ER, I hold myself back and they don't make you feel particularly welcome, but if it was up to me I'd be there maybe once a month. How's about having a bit of a poll? How many times have you been to an ER in the course of a panic attack? I can clearly remember seven occasions over the past 21 years, but there may have been more. How many times have you been?

Hello Burak. I have done the ER number for the same reason many many times. I think somewhere along the line, I ER'd myself out ;). Maybe it would help to talk to your doctor and have him/her refer you to a cardiologist for a complete workup. Knowing you have a healthy heart might help some. I'm not saying it will take away the feeling when the panic attack is happening that it is indeed a heart attack, but it may give you the assurance you need to keep telling yourself, it's the panic, not my heart and then little by little begin to believe it.

Goodday, I had a very intense panic attact today and ended up in the emergency of the nearest hospital. I tried to practise the relaxation methods I already know but the fear of death was so intense that I caught a taxi and headed to the ER. Because such a thought pattern has been developed through the years and I cant change it: I cant help thinking that if my panic does not cease soon my heart can no longer carry that weight and then I would either have a heart problem or I die immediately. Please feel free to share your opinions. Thanks.
