I really enjoyed reading your post about your cats names tonight..You got me to smiling and laughing again. It sure feels good to laugh again..I like the name Lucy too..She does cheer me up and makes me laugh. Just like I Love Lucy.

She looks like a Lucy. An easy name that can be sweet or sharp depending on what she is up to. You know cats all have three names. Their official name (Theodore) The name they come for (fat puddy) And one that only they know and think about when they are looking contemplative. (licking their paw)
My cats all have lots of names. Theodore is fat puddy, PB. Pretty boy, and piss piss. A hold over from being a kitten. All kittens come for piss piss.
Thomas is Tommy bum. Bad boy, S...t face and pudder. and a number of other things depending on what he is up to.
Tommy is 17 and Theodore is 6. DD was 18 last year when he died.
Thanks for the advice and tips..I need all the help I can get..I guess you can teach a old dog new tricks..Meaning me, and the new kitty..We both have a lot to learn..It's been about 18 years now since I've had a cat in my life. It going to be a real adventure learning this all over again..She is really very sweet. Angel one minute Devil the next but mostly a real Angel..
I still need to come up with a name for her after I find out more about her personality..Rascal, Angel, Sheba, Sweetie etc. etc.
She came with the name Lucy maybe I'll keep that one. She does seem to get into a lot of mischief..Kind of like I Love Lucy.
I am just rambling here now..so I should go for now I have cut some fabric today for the fabric exchange in class tomorrow.. That when my partner get back to babysit the new kitty...
Water pistol works over time. On wooden doors a layer of hardware cloth with a space between it and the screen works. Those portable child barricades. Screen at the top of the door or window rather than the bottom. Finally don't be afraid to rub her nose on the screen and slap her bottom. Cats unfortunately are not stupid. They learn quick what gets attention.

That's a tough one. Normally young cats are more rambunctious and therefore more destructive. Correcting with a clap of the hands and a loud "Hey!" or with a squirt bottle may work. Animals respond to consistent reinforcement. Having a scratch post near by and giving her positive reinforcement when you see her scratching it might also be good. Other than that I'm not sure. I've had a lot of cats and I know they love screens
I have made some changes lately and it has helped me a great deal..The first one was establishing some boundaries at my home by putting up fence along the North side of my front yard..What a relief this has been..I now have some peace and quiet and a safe yard to enjoy..Secondly I finally decided to take the plunge and bring a pet into my life. I am enjoying and learning something new about her every day..One question though does anyone know how to keep a cat from tearing up your screens?? This is the first time I have had a indoor cat..My other cats were always allowed to roam in and out of the house..Everyone seems to keep there cats indoors in the city now...
Interesting topic of discussion jdoe. I look forward to hearing how other members have changed in their environment to help them with their panic and anxiety.
Has anyone tried or thought of changing their environment or situation in a effort to deal with there panic or depression? What are your plans or thoughts on this kind of approach?
This is something I have been working on for the last two weeks..It does involve a lot of planning. There is also goal planning and exposure work to do too..In the end I think will be worth it..
