I did get those as a child, and I did have similar events in my 30's. Nothing recently, but I do know that valium is a good way to relieve the situation.
Thanks for posting your experiences Red and everyone else. I have read quite a few posts in the Panic Center from members experiencing similar symptoms. It might be helpful to do a little search through the forums and see what you find.
I have to say Red I love your attitude! Very positive in a challenging situation
When I get night terrors it is usually because I ate to late and because I used to have panic attacks the foreign feeling takes me back there. As you progress you will be able to wake up from them and accept what is happening and usually just tell them to go away. This is the best way to treat them, just accept that they are there because of your condition and say "Hi there, I know what you are now go away" If that doesn't work then use medication to get back to sleep. I would recommend you try every thing else first, Warm milk etc. first, but if you have to, then take a med because it is very important to get back to sleep to break the cycle. Also remember it can take a few minutes for the symptoms to settle before you go back to sleep. This is normal.
I have night terrors too. My critters won't sleep with me because the screaming freaks them out. My dh is wonderful about it... very comforting when I come out of it to him reassuring me that he is there and everything is ok. I do take a sleeping aid... seroquel... although lately, even that hasn't helped calm the tide. I've never associated it with panic attacks.... but now that you mention it... I guess it is like that. We've just learned to take it in stride, I guess. Have given up on getting rid of them. Is that possible?
I sometimes have night terrors and wake up at night in a panicked state. Sometimes my partner has to wake me up because I am in so much physical distress and my breathing is very erratic, like I am in a panic..Sometimes I can't wake myself up so I am glad that he wakes me up so that I can calm down..
Last night was one of those nights and my breathing was so erratic that it woke me up several times...I have been pretty tired and sick most of the day today from last nights...panic attacks...
Does anyone else here have these attacks while sleeping? and if so has anything helped you get rid of them?
Well tonight I am going to relax and take a Valium before I go to bed and see if that helps..I read on the Rx information sheet that they were good at relieving night terrors with panic....I guess I will see if thats true when I go to bed tonight...
