Dear Sunny,

I shall pray for you - you are amazing to stay so positive!  I bet everything is going to go so smoothly.  I'm glad you know what to expect, since you've had it before; knowing what's going to happen often helps me not feel quite so scared.  I hope you have a wonderful time with your grandchildren and know that you are indeed inspiring for hanging in there and taking things in stride.

Please keep us posted . . . .

Sunny,
Good luck with your surgeries. You sound so positive! Hang on a little longer ....and you're right, new procedures are happening every day!

Sunny,
I am so happy to hear that you finally got threw to your Dr's and got your surgeries scheduled.  I know your eye problems and the waiting to hear from them caused you a lot of pain and anxiety.  Maybe you will be able to relax a little now and have a nice visit with the grandkids.  Take care.

SIM & Davit: Thanks guys! Your support really means a lot - I'm smiling away here.
I am not nervous about these laser surgeries.  I have had them done before, the second type.  The first one is something new though. It'll be four appts. in all. There isn't much pain, your eyes are frozen and it is just uncomfortable really and you might feel just a little sickish afterwards.  My main concern was not getting through to get the first appt. as everyone was on holidays all the time, one after the other.  I really didn't want to reschedule the second appt. because I couldn't get the first, especially because my grandchildren are coming and I wanted this over with before they got here.  That was stressful for me, waiting patiently wondering if I'll get in.   And of course the pain from pressures and taking these wretched drops (4 different kinds I had to try because of allergic reactions and developed keratitis), now that was painful, but just stinging now.  What was maddening and stressful was that I couldn't go to them for help after trying some of these drops because they were on holiday so ended up in emerg. twice.  After these surgeries though, no more drops and I can go back to normal.  These procedures last approx. 6 years, then you need to do it again.  My last one was a little more than 6 years ago and worked very well.  You can only have it done about three times in your life.  So I'll only be able to have it one more time, after that, hoping they find something new.
I don't have a therapist to talk to, but I do have a couple of good friends.  I did stop talking about it though, feeling I might be whining or something. I could have spoken to my GP but she was on holiday too, exact same two times as the opthamologist and those were the times I needed the help.
Davit, I hope you get stronger.  Don't ever give up even if it seems so hard at times.  I cried a few times in frustration and feeling like I was falling through the cracks, but never wanted to give up.  Let me know when your appt. comes up and I'll be there for you in spirit.
I know what you mean about getting it into the past - when I had the surgery last year and I was anxious about that one - I kept thinking, soon I'll be home and it'll be all over with. yippee. Use the valium, you are knowledgeable and will use it wisely.  I really care. Your friend who sees blurry with the eyes once in awhile, but not the heart and mind.

Sunny.

We are both older people so we have had a lot of unpleasantness in our lives. I think they build strength. I have spent so much time in hospitals that now if I have to go again I will just do it and get it into the past as quickly as I can. I am still waiting for my appointment to get my teeth pulled. I know it will be hell but I have survived hell before I can do it again. It doesn't mean I want to and I will panic a little  when I actually have a date. If it is bad enough I will use Valium for the actual days, knowing that it will be temporary and I can get back on track again after. The glory days are gone for me, now it is just a matter of getting the best out of every day and enjoying what little there is there. It is a challenge but I think you and me are good at challenges are we not, everyone knows we have the experience. Do you have a shoulder to lean on during this time? A therapist to talk to if necessary. It is so much easier to do these things if you don't have to do them alone. Keep posting so I can be there with you if only in mind. Just think how good life will be when it is over.

Here for you. There with you.
Davit.

Oh I forgot to mention, have you tried box breathing? That is super helpful too, it helps you really become aware of your breathing... you can read about how to do box breathing in I think it's session 10-Relaxation of the program. In there, read all the sections but specifically the box breathing. It is really helpful because it explains exactly how to do it...Let me know how it goes!

Wow sunny, what wonderful news! That is just wonderful that you finally have your appointments booked..now you can prepare yourself for these operations. Do stay positive, those deep breathing exercises and relaxation techniques will go a really long way. I used deep breathing yesterday when I had to have a needle...the nurse said look the other way and I used deep breathing to help me get through this. The power of breath is amazing.
