Hi, I too have taken Zopiclone for a while when I was first diagnosed with anxiety/panic disorder, and have to say that it didn't seem to affect my panic in any negative way. I didn't have any increase whilst using it, and still occasionally use it to sleep ( thats when my gp will let me !! ), as being on venlafaxine find my getting to sleep can be a problem. When I first took it it kind've zoned me out, rather than made me anxious, now I need a heavier dose for it to work. I don't think it should increase your panic in any way, are you anxious about taking it ? Do you think this might be the case ? If you're really worried chat to your doctor again, but I don't know of any link, and I generally well research any medication I have. Good luck, enjoy the sleep ! I think we understimate how much we need it !!
I'm wondering if taking the sleeping pill Zoplicone (Zimovane) could increase one's susceptibility to panic attacks. I've never had them (panics) before in my life until about 6 months ago. I've been taking Zoplicone on and off for about two years. I think it interacts with the brain in the same way that valium would, though it's not the same class of drug i don't think.
If something is calming the brain down that much at night could it be possible to have rebound effects during the day? The doctor tells me not to worry about that but i really get the feeling that these panics are chemically based, something physiological going on in me.
Thanks
Rosemary
