For more serious stuff i recommend Echart Tolle
For just reading for reading i suggest either reading short stories by alice Munro or reading novels by Morris west!Theese have gotten me through many a rough night in the past month. so Enjoy!
Oh Lucinda Bassett is great too. She has several audio tapes that help with understanding PD and a relaxation tape that I find pretty effective as well. :)
I would just like to recommend the book, "Healing Fear" (New approaches to overcoming anxiety)- by Edmund Bourne, Ph.D. He is also the author of "The anxiety and phobia workbook". It is a pretty informative book that is also easy to navigate. :)
Hi vickivdb! How are you doing? I totally agree that you should read an uplifting book! It helps us see things in a more positive way!
The first thing i would recommend is looking into a boy named ADAM. He is an energy healer here in Canada and he is actually touring the world. He is teaching people how to empower themselves to heal themselves. He tells us that so many people depend on OTHER people to heal them. Rather, we all have the power within ourselves to heal any problem we have. He does this by teaching us positive visualizations (as someone mentioned above). I just recently went to one of his workshops and it was amazing. It truly empowers you. U gain so much knowledge about urself!! He has three books that are out that speak of this. Its such a positive feeling when you read his books. I'm not sure if they are in America yet (i'm not sure where u are hehe). But they do have a website. Go to dreamhealer
Another book that is sitting infront of me is called "Shortcut to Spirituality- mastering the art of inner peace." By Bob Gottfried. I haven't actually read this one yet. Im waiting to finish my other book first! But it sounds great.
So check them out. Let me know what u decide to do!!! Bye for now! :)
Hi vickivdb,
Welcome to the site. Fellow members will be responding soon with their own recomendations.
Please be sure to take advantage of all the resources available to you on the website here.
You mentioned CBT in your post. Our online program is based on this. The first step toward recovery is to seek appropriate treatment: either medication, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or a combination of both. When you get treatment you€™ll be asked to get active in your treatment because medications only work if you take them as directed and if you let your doctor know how things are going. CBT works well if you€™re willing to do some work by learning to gradually approach your fears.
We wish you all the best and look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Casey

Hey Vickivdb,
One book that has really helped me is "Anxiety, Phobias & Panic" by Reneau Z. Peurifoy. It reads like a textbook or a self help program but there is a wealth of relaxation techniques in it. I think I got it at Chapters.
Another book - more on the spiritual side is "Creative Visualization" by Shakti Gawain. This book teaches about meditation and how literally creative and positive visualization can help us create the results we desire in life.
And I'm not particularly religious, but I find the Bible to be uplifting, entertaining and inspiring.
Hope that helps alittle,
FIXING
Hi everyone. I'm new here. I started having panic attacks just a month ago. My doctor has me on Xanax right now, and it's helping, but as you all know, it's a daily struggle.
The worst of my attacks comes late at night when I'm about to go to bed. I have yet to figure out why..although I'm starting to think that it's the fear of death. Any little feeling in my body and I'm blowing it up into a physical condition...which I'm sure is not the case, but haven't yet learnt how to control that feeling. I joined this site in hopes of the 12 week program will teach me how.
ANYWAYS...my doctor recommended I get some positive/spiritual/uplifting reading material and introduce into my bedtime routine. Not only will reading help to get my mind of things, it will also give me some unwind time. He suggested getting something for the soul to add to the goodness of a "wind down" routine.
Is anyone reading anything like this? A CBT book or something? I'm just looking for a good read.
Thanks! Looking forward to talking with you.
