lulu,
Thanks for the encouragement. I know what you mean, the word DETERMINATION is a good one. Every day I have to determine that I will just get in the car and do what needs to be done. I hope it gets easier for you soon as well. Take care.

Hi Kim im also petrified of driving have had many a panic while driving i started by doing small amounts of exposure each day i started off driving for 5 mins with my husband with me then gradually drew out the time when i felt comfortable enough i have now been able to drive to town by myself a couple of times without panic now it has been a lengthy process it has taken me 5 months to get to where i am now and the past week is the first time i have been able to take my boys to school by myself but it still makes me uncomfortable and i have panicked a couple of times but it takes sheer determination to do it.I also have low blood pressure and get the dizzy spells too which often triggers a panic goodluck with your driving.Take care.
Lulu..
Hi,
I have been having anxiety and panic attacks since last December. The worst part is the fear of driving. My worst panic attacks have happened while driving. The feeling that gets to me the most is the detached feeling of unreality. I feel almost spacey. I feel dizzy and it scares me. I was recently diagnosed with orthostactic dystolic hypotenstion, ( my bloodpressure is low and sometimes the bottom number drops causing me to feel dizzy and like I might pass out, I am on a med for this) Now I carry a
portable blood pressure cuff with me while driving and if I feel the least bit dizzy I take it to be sure. So far my BP has been ok. (I have to admit sometimes I wear it all the way home!) So it must just be the anxiety. I have had a lot of stress over the past year and I know this has played a part. I just want to hear from others that they have experienced these symptoms and how they deal with it. I didn't drive all summer, I found ways out. Since school has started I must drive my kids everyday so I guess I am expossing myself to my fearful area every day. It just doesn't seem to get better though. I have been chalangeing my fearful thoughts and replacing them with truthful calming ones, but it's very hard. How much exposesure till it gets better????
