I want to add something to my last post - totally unrelated to anxiety. Americans and Canadians like to poke fun at each other, but when it comes down to it, we'Re like squabbling siblings who care about each other. When we hear you'Re having a hard time, we really feel for you. Everyone I know sent money and prayers and thoughts to help out for Hurricane Katrina and9/11 and everything. Just thought I'd spread the love, guys!

Hi Debbie, to answer your question, I live up in Canada (in Quebec, the French-speaking part). I actually speak French and English is my second-language. Seriously, I watch all this stuff on the news and every year I see these monster storms and hurricanes and earthquakes and such down in the States and I think to myself "These people have nerves of steel!" I can't imagine living through that, here in CAnada, we get none of that. We had a pretty bad ice storm in 1998, but not many people died. I just want to say to all you people in the States that I hope you all will be alright after these horrible events! :)

Hi Tululi, I am sorry I just now read your post after I wrote you on another thread, I am going to 20 miligrams anything to feel better, I am not happy about it but I must, I keep the Klonopin dose low {maybe too low} I know how addictive they are. I live in Florida, where do you live, thankfully the hurricane season here has not been too bad, I feel so bad for those poor people in New Orleans I have prayed for them and made a donation, they have it so hard. Last year here in Florida it was horrible 4 storms in 3 weeks, we got hit hard by two of them! Sometimes I feel now the hurricane is inside me, does that make sense. I am glad you had a great day. God bless, Debbie.

Hi Debbie. I never took tranquilizers, but a good friend of mine did for a while because it was necessary as she was no longer functioning and was just sinking deeper. When she had dealt with her issues, she stopped. As I said in another post, i think you should follow your doc's orders and take 20 mg. I, like Vickers, am trying to do without meds, but i understand that sometimes it is really, entirely necessary. I really needed to take the PAxil when I did because i was so distraught that I couldn't see, think or react clearly. I need to get a break from the constant anxiety in order to be able to get a clearer picture of what I needed to do/change in my life. I believe you are at a point in your life where you also just need this. It's hard to get your bearings in the middle of a hurricane, know what I mean? (figuratively speaking - by the way, hope everyone is alright over there in the US!) You can't see things clearly in a storm or take life-altering decisions. After you're calm, you can decide what the next steps will be. These are the cases in which meds are useful and should be prescribed. There's all this bad press about meds and that's because they'Re prescribed to anyone and their cousin, grandma and dog! But they exist for a reason - to help us out when nothing else seems to work. So please, listen do your doc and take the 20 mg. Have a good night Debbie! :)

Hi Vickers, Thank you for writing me back. I am going to have to up my miligrams tomm, As you probably can tell I did NOT want to go back on medication, but I have gotten pretty severe so for a time I think it neccessary, the side effects are rough, the headache went away and now is back {I am trying not to think "Stroke"} I have been on the phone today trying to find a therapist or physcologist who specializes in Panic and anxiety, I talked to a few very good ones who seem to understand and can help but my insurance does not cover them and they are SO expensive Vickers, I have realized that a pill does not do it all and I need to learn coping skills, and how to control this, the panics are comin everyday Vickers and they are taking so much out of me, my husband was home today, he has a very bad head cold with a fever, so I did a little better for some reason even through he is not too supportive lately, I realize now he is sick, I am trying to stay away from him so I do not catch it or my son catches it. How long did you take 10 miligrams of Paxil before you bumped up to 20 Vickers? When you get a chance you can tell me, I know with the boy its hard to get the computer! I am really trying to find help, I knew you would like that. God bless, Debbie.

I took the Paxil for 7 years. I started at 10mg and at the end was taking 60mg! The reason I was taking so much is because whenever I tried to get off it, I would go through serious withdrawals and my doctor would say that I was having a relapse and needed a higher dose, so she would not only put me back on it, but would up the dosage. This made for an absolute nightmare trying to get off it! For me personally, I am against the idea of meds. But, I do know that certain people need them to calm down enough to start being able to think clearly so they can start working on getting better. If you need to up your dosage, then do it. Your doctor prescribed 20mg. Take it and give it a shot. Because you took the Paxil before, your body may not respond the same way to a lower dosage as it would have if you had never taken it. Hang in there!

Vickers and Tiluli, Hi, I was just wondering if you girls took a tranqulizer when you took your paxil?? And how much you started with and what was the dose that made you feel better and eased the panics? I hope you do not mind, I just am so anxious to feel better, I wish the Paxil would work faster, is 10-15 miligrams too low of a dose? shall I go up to 20 and still take the Klonopin? My husband is very angy with me he said after almost a month I should be better, I of all people want that so much and his anger is so hard to take, he told me I was destroying our family and that about killed me, never ever would I do that to my son. I know youre busy, when you get a chance. Thanks so much, God bless, Debbie.
