I do the same thing. If I get mad, excited or even depressed, I notice the physical symptoms of a panic attack (especially heart beating harder or faster) and it throws me into a panic. I think it's because your adrenaline responds to emotions and when your adrenaline gets going, you get the same physical sensations you would during panic. So, your mind thinks you're panicking and off you go.

I think that your body just gets used to responding to any emotion in a certain way. Like the excitement you felt was translated by your body to panic. Sounds weird but I think that is it.

I get that way sometimes...I get anxious when something good happens and I feel like I don;t deserve it...and then it continues...I guess we have to try not to think about things so much, like I over analyze so many things and sends me into panic mode:-( Hope this helps....have a wonderful weekend:-) Happy 4th of July! And of course, Happy Canada Day!! Which was yesterday:-) Have a great day! B
