Hey JH805!
I'm so sorry you have to deal with this at such a young age! But, I am glad you found us - I hope we can help you get through. A lot of us have been suffering from this for an awful long time so we all have lots of experience, which will hopefully help you. Personally, I've been going through this for about 12 years now. I'm glad you are actively fighting this so early!! Just so you know, the Panic Program offered on this website is a free 12 week program teaching Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which is the best and most effective way to beat this nightmare. The support group is fabulous. There isn't a single person on this website that doesn't know exactly how you feel every single day so talk to us when you need some support or need to vent.
There are tons of things that can be done for heart issues these days. My mother had been placed on a heart transplant list because the bottom of her heart actually died! The doctor gave her some medication to keep her heart beating while she was on the list and it actually healed her heart completely!! It's amazing what can be done for heart disease, try to remember that when you are panicking about your heart. I'm a heart panicker also and I try to remind myself of this when I'm freaking out about the idea of heart problems. Trust your doctors. They will know if something is wrong.
I also have a weight problem. I have started taking a 30 minute walk at least every other day and have noticed a huge difference in how I feel physically. Start slow, but start all the same. Maybe even 15 minutes every other day of walking until you can get up to 20 minutes and then up to 25 minutes and then up to 30. But start slow. There's no rush. Eat at least 2 fruits and 3 veggies every day and be sure to drink at least 64 oz of water daily. A little sugar is ok. I try not to have more than 20-30 grams of sugar a day. If it wasn't for chocolate I probably wouldn't have to watch that so much - dang chocolate!! ;p Actually, I read that a bit of dark chocolate every day is good for your heart. Woo Hoo!
Hang in there - I know this is tough! But know that you can beat this!! It has to come from within and I know that we all have it within ourselves to do it. Check out a book called "Hope and
