You definitely have a difficult job with panic....I work in corporate america and its sometimes easier to ride it out at your desk/office.....What did you do when you had those attacks in school? Also, do you take any meds to help...that might be a good answer for you? You should be so proud of yourself, not only working with panic as a teacher but in italy - are you italian? I was born in NYC but am also an italian citizen...my parents are from abruzzi...laquila.....I use to fly all over the world and havent been back to italy since 1989.....i miss it ..
I have social panic also. I can't even imagine having to stand in front of people and pretend to be confident the way you do by teaching! -Wow-
What I do when I am in a situation where I have to perform and I start to feel it coming on is to tell myself, "this is just anxiety, you've gone through this many times and you have been ok. You will get through this, too." That usually helps me at least stay calm enough to get through whatever it is that I'm having to deal with.
Hang in there! You are stronger than you feel - I promise!
Hello,
I used to have panic attacks about 8 years ago, then I attended support groups and took medication and everything was ok. Lately, they have started up again, after losing my job and going back to teaching English (I live in Italy). I feel I am under pressure to perform and that I have to keep discussions going. Sometimes I do not want to be there at the centre of attention. Lately, I have had two panic attacks in class. Last one, my legs were shaking. Please help.
