I took imipramine for a few years and it worked well. The side effects suck though. It makes your mouth dry and you get constipated. You also have to take it at night because it will make you sleepy. Anyway, I went off of it because I am pregnant and decided to go without meds. It worked for about 6 mos. and bam!! I had severe attacks again. (I would give my eye teeth to have a xanax during an attack but I have to go through it without one) I was put on Paxil (20 mgs) but I just started taking it. From what I gather from research on the web, Paxil and Zoloft seem to help a lot of people.
Hello, I am on a Beta-blocker Inderal LA 160mg per day. Also I take rescue remedy and massage oils into my neck and shoulders too.regards Amanda Harrison
I am taking effexor 150mg aday and 0.5mg respiridone a day but I am coming off the respiridone soon to try for a baby so I will have to deal with the anxiety alone. Both of the above meds have helped me.

Hi Huntersmom,
You are not weak and it is okay to take medication, because they truly do help...I have been on several medictaions until I found that Zoloft and Klonopin worked well for me...I know how family and friends are -- they cannot understand, because only you can understand what you are feeling or going through...my husband does not understand and I have given up on that -- I just ask that he accepts me...I wish I wasn't taking medication and have tried to stop, but my anxiety just became worse...
Hang in there:-)
Best,
B
i am on paxil 20mg a day. I have taken that for 4 years now and it has done wonders. I still have my days though but never as bad as they were before.
It all began when my dad passed away. I became housbound for 6 months after that. I couldnt even get up out of bed half the time. That is when my doctor prescribed me paxil and xanax as needed. They have made me feel like I have got my life and least half way on track. I still have my days so bad it scares me but I think I do ok.
For the longest time I thought it was all in my head and I should just get over it. Well that is what everyone kept telling me that I started to believe it. everyone in my family kept telling me that I didnt need them or that I should watch out before I get hooked on them. I never wanted to tell anyone that I was on meds for anxiety and depression to me it always showed that I was weak because I had to be on them. Now I dont think that anymore I know the medicine is working and I am proud that I had enough courage in the first place to get help and get on the meds in the first place. I hope this helps anyone whos is struggling because they have to be on medication. huntersmom
I am currently taking Prozac 40mg I was on 20mg Prozac for about 18 months. I think its helped a lot. I also take xanax 1mg on occassion for those tuff days, but I would say I take the xanax about 3 times a month if that.
I take 200mg (UK dosage) of Zoloft in the morning and 0.5mg of Clonazepam in the morning and evening.
I see the difference and it has helped:-)
I hope you are feeling better Outlaw...
xanax sucks because .25 used to work five years ago,now i cant tell if its withdraw i feel ****py all day or anxiety..it does help in the clutch though..the other drugs scare me i could never handle the effects..seems like most people here havent found a drug that helps them..than again if they did would they still post..probally not because they would be living life not coning here..no disrespect to the site but we all want to get well.
