Hello Kiwi and Shevie, it's great to see you again!

I'm with you both, it's all over and I am loving the feeling of freedom and relaxation.  No stresses or even my fight against cancer provide enough triggers to make me want to smoke again.

Never Look Back!  The Future is ahead!

Hi Shevie, I know what you mean 'used to be me'.

I was talking tobacco like a connoisseur of fine wines with a smoker coworker the other day. He was headed out for his cigarette break & rolling a Port Royal cigarette (my old fave).... We both ended up having a good laugh, all the way out the front door.

The funny thing was, it only seemed like i stopped smoking yesterday.....  the force is still strong grasshopper !

Nicotine addiction is real !............ but i'm soooooooooo over it

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi, Kiwi.  Long time, no see.  What a nice surprise.  I can so relate to what you said about inner calmness and peace.  The links are broken, no more triggers to make us think of smoking, just going through our days as non-smokers, dealing with life without the crutch.

But that doesn't mean I've forgotten, nor do I suspect any of us have.  I am still thankful I took that first step almost six years ago.  Especially when I see folks going out into the wind, drizzle, and icy slush to have a smoke.  I remember, that used to be me.

I have no triggers. But i do have an inner calmness / inner peace i never thought existed. I don't know how or why it happened....... but it did.

I Guess when you stop smoking & stay stopped, it becomes the final part of the journey. A natural process ?

Either way, there is no substitute to being completely free of addiction. Especially anyone just starting this journey, this freedom is truly something to look forward to.

I would genuinely be interested in finding out if other long term quitters feel the same.

Realistically, everything is a trigger. I smoked for all reasons: anger, depression, happiness, relaxation, boredom... But stress is probably the #1 trigger
