Who else loves to exercise?

I do enjoy exercising. However, I find that i'm too lazy to do those vigourous exercises (which i heard are good for anxiety). Rather, i find that yoga really helps me relax. Yoga and meditation sort of take me to another world of relaxation. Having a panic disorder, i find it very hard to be calm ANYTIME of the day...even if i'm not doing anything i feel nervous. So Yoga is really helping me have time to myself. It relaxes me and helps me breath better! You all should try it! Its great! ;)

Dea AP, Before I had this horrible relaspe I would walk with my german shepard and son every night for 45 minutes to an hour, we would walk to the store, for ice cream etc...Now with the dizziness and headaches I do not want to leave the house, I did force myself to walk around the block last night with my son, it felt good to get out but I worried I would faint or get sick. Walking is great for me, it helped me SO much, I only hope when I get better I can resume my walking again it was so good for my son and I. I hope you are doing well, let me know. God bless, Debbie.

Hi, I've really found that exercise helps my anxiety. The best form of exercise for me is Swimming laps. It seems to cut down the number of panic attacks I have and the overally feeling of anxiety. I find it pretty hard to worry when I'm swimming because I focus only on what I'm doing at the time (trying not to drown ! :) ) Its great to hear that other people find exercising really helps. I am slowly through a functional restorations program that I finished through WSIB got back into exercising but in a slow pace. I started through them slowly therapeutic yoga and do slow breathing exercises to stretch etc. Since I like to be at home to exercise and since I can only walk slowly nearby outside where I live its the next best thing to having a gym. I slowly purchased simple devices which cost next to nothing. Since I have chronic migraines, chronic pain and fibromyalgia, severe depression, anxiety/panic attacks (agrophobia?) I feel its important to start slowly or else you will get discouraged and nevder exercise. Use colour music therapy for relaxation and it will help you to relax. enjoy

I played sport 3 times a week before i got this panic disorder now i cant for the life of me bring myself to do any sport because when my heart starts pounding i panic every single time. My psychologist has given me exercises to do like step ups and jogging on the spot and i can usually do them ok but i cant play my sport which makes my anxiety worse cause ive always been an active sporty person and for the last 10 weeks i havnt been able to do anything :( I know i should but i just cant bring myself to. My doctor keeps asking me every time I see him (every 2 weeks to monitor the meds) whether I'm excercising and reminds me of how important it is! This has given me motivation to exercise, and thankfully, we have a treadmill at work. So during my coffee break, I go for a fast walk. There's a tv right there too, so I find that it's a relaxing break from work and makes me feel like I'm doing something practical to take care of my anxiety, so it's a double blessing and I look forward to it most days. Also I've been playing ultimate frisbee in a rec league, and I find that that always makes me feel so good (running for about an hour and a half with few breaks) during and afterwards too. KD

I absolutely LOVE to exercise!! If I'm feeling down and depressed then I go for a power walk or a run and when I get back I feel so much better. I find it gives me heaps of energy and puts me in a happier mood. I also love pilates, I find it a very calming type of exercise to do and because it focuses so much on the breathing then that helps with my anxiety too!

I love to exercise myself. I have found that yoga is a great way to increase my muscle strength, flexibility and relax. I also do the weights. I try not to overdue it. Not only do I have a panic disorder but I have mitral valve prolapse syndrome. The exercise definitely helps relax me relax and dissipates the adrenaline. I have found that as long as I don€™t overdue the exercise my body doesn€™t get stressed and therefore doesn€™t trigger a panic response.

I absolutely love to exercise. I notice a big difference in my mood as far as depression & anxiety are concerned when I do not exercise for a few days at a time. I've recently taken on more responsibilty at work & have been coming hope exhausted. Along with this, I've noticed an increase in anxiety & depression. So, I'm just going to have to make the effort to find some time to work out. There really is no substitute. I can't wait for you both to feel like you can exercise again, too:>

I worked out on a treadmill every day for about a year and was practically walking on clouds every day. I stopped working out because my kids were playing on it one day and broke it. I didn't buy another one for about a year (last weekend actually) and during that time didn't work out. My anxiety and dark moods came back during that time. I worked out on it the other day and noticed my heart beating so fast that I started to panic. I haven't been back on it since. I know this is stupid because I didn't have shortness of breath other than the normal being winded from physical effort and I didn't have any chest pains - just a racing heart. Logically, I know this is because of the physical effort, but irrationally, it scared the **** out of me! I am trying to get back to it though. This monster is so debilitating!
