Breather...I missed you this weekend!
Thanks for the words of support. I will continue to move forward, not looking back, and enjoy some retail therapy!

30 days awesome,

Hello ojmas I can relate to your apprehension as I'm a November quitter like you. I agonised over whether to go to the Christmas partys et all the first year but everything turned out better than excellent , smoke free and much fun was had. You've got the right idea of not letting the issues get under your skin. Remember H.A.L.T. Keep looking forward not back. You've come so far in a month to even be bothered with petty stuff. Maybe a little retail therapy is in order as a reward to look forward to in the New Year. Not smoking for a month is amazing and something to be proud of. Excellent for you. breather

Well, this will be my first holiday as a non-smoker so I need some ideas! But here's what I will try:
  • get a lot of sleep or take some naps
  • keep drinking water...that seems to be so wonderful lately.
  • keep the alcohol level down and eat naturally, not as if we hadn't seen food since quitting smoking!
  • and if you have family issues i guess just remember why we celebrate Christmas...and then just breathe and walk away from the situation.
My family issues have already started so i am a bit anxious and bummed right now. So I hope to come back here often for a little help and support!

Members,

During the holiday season, stress levels can reach peak levels leading to many reactions within our body, including increased anxiety and fatigue. Your body’s physical and emotional reactions to stress are determined by your sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The SNS produces the fight or flight reaction in response to stress leading to an increased heart rate, muscle tension, increased blood flow and respiration. If you are constantly being exposed to stressful situations (ie. the holiday season) this may cause your SNS to overreact and be constantly stimulated. This constant stimulation can lead to depleted energy reserves and emotional and physical exhaustion. It’s important that during times of high stress we learn how to manage our stress levels.

Members, what are some of the ways that you manage your stress levels during the holiday season?
