Hi Mo:
Its funny that you mentioned the Attacking Anxiety and Depression tapes/cds by Lucinda Bassett. I purchased them a few years ago. I must admit, at the time they didn't help me much, only because I didn't put in the effort needed. I thought I was an exception and these suggestions weren't going to help. I thought my anxiety was too bad.
I am listening to the tapes again now, and I'm getting a whole lot out of it this time. I think your attitude and keeping an open mind has a lot to do with it and ofcourse doing what they suggest. The information is sinking in now. Also, it is nice to be able to listen to Lucinda give me support 24/7. I listen to the tapes when I go shopping, standing in lines, having to deal with people, any time I feel anxious its nice to turn a cassette tape on and get some support.
The answer to your question is I think its worth it. I've seen my anxiety go down by compassionate self talk which she teaches you. I didn't believe that by talking positively to myself my symptoms would dissipate but they have. I know its a lot of money. But its a small price to pay for peace of mind, and to recover from this condition.
