It happens Nick, but you will be fine.  Nobody learned their ABC's in one day.  This takes practice...good for you that you came here..we are here for you.

Nick, I am so sorry that you smoked.  I know exactly how you feel.  You came here and got honest and that is a good thing so they tell me.  I never tried putting cigs in a jar, icky, but I have done a lot of other things.  I even gave the butts a funeral on one of my quits.  I took a picture and used on my desktop for awhile.  I wished I had a magic answer why some can quit and move on and others and I have try again.  My prayer for you is that you learned and you never have to do this again, but like they tell me and I have told others never give up quitting; you will never know when it will take.  You take care of yourself and move forward.

"We learn by doing"........So true here  during Quits.  Sometimes it takes more "doing".
Don't be down, look at what you learned, how you felt and most importantly........ How you beat the addict for 30 BIG days.   You did it!!
The wagon is going slow........jump back aboard and this time just beat the addict.......

Keep the Quit

Nick, don't let 1 slip discourage you... don't give up.    Most changes do not occur overnight.  In fact, becoming a non-smoker is a process that is developed and refined over time.  If you have a slip, it does not mean you automatically go back to "square one".  You can remain a non-smoker unless YOU decide to become a smoker again.

If a slip happens, it is natural to feel guilty.  But 2 things separate non-smokers from relapsers: how they interpret the situation once the initial emotions are over, and how quickly they get back on track.  If you slip, ask yourself: "What can I do to get myself back on track now?"
You can do this... don't give up because you had a slip... We are all here for you... just reach out.

Actually, Ashley meant to write that **** happens.....
It's Okay, Nick, and I am impressed that you realized your mistake and jumped right back in!  From every failed quit I have learned a valuable lesson.  You will, too.  Don't be too hard on yourself and beat yourself up over this.  Nicotine addiction is one of the hardest drugs to tame.  For one reason is that it is legal and so easy to obtain.  Hold my hand, dear friend, and I'll pull you back up into the boat.  Rock has a dry towel for you and Rusty has a stiff drink to bring you around!!!
Stay close by....

Nick, I don't think it's "a month down the pan."  During that month, you lived and breathed and did all the things you normally do and you didn't smoke. That's 30 days of not inhaling poison. And I'll bet you learned a great deal about yourself and your addiction. Don't throw all that away. Embrace and use it to make you stronger.

Nick,

Slips happen.  It's ok, the important thing is that you didn't let it discourage you.  You are right back at it.  That's amazing and takes a lot of will power and motivation. Everything Rock said is completely right.  Just think of this as a bump in your journey.  Nothing that can't be handled.  You can do this, just keep on NOPEing!

Members, have you slipped? How do you feel and how did you recover from it?

Nick, don't get upset at the fall, get upset at what made you fall.  Use this as a practice session as now you know what works and what doesn't work.  Put together a plan so you can handle whatever caused you to smoke today.  Go back through "my program" to make sure it is still current.  If you need a day or two to regroup thats fine too!  When you are ready to go, grab onto my hand if you need some help!

I caved. I felt like killing myself and the king of the world all at the same time. Ripped the smokes up, woke my daughter and apologized to her. Put the ripped cigarettes in a jar of water, next time im desperate i'm gonna swig that water (YUUUK).

Theres a month down the pan. This is like waiting for nothing to happen, theres something other than this state of limbo, i just need to realize it and not read about it.

Quit meter to zero and i only just made the parade
