Great post Brenda.

The prayer thread has surely been helpful to a number of members here and it is great to hear that you have also been using this thread to combat those rough cravings.

As you mentioned, just keep on posting and saying N.O.P.E! You can do this Brenda!

Show that nicodemon who's boss!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Thank you, Sarah. I just have to keep saying N.O.P.E. and posting. Since I can't think straight sometimes, maybe I need to go to the Prayer Thread and read them. I'm beginning to remember that when I was new in 12 Step program, I used to obsess constantly. During meetings I would silently recite slogans to break the negative thoughts. I'm finding now that about once or twice a week now I have a crave. They do last a couple of hours. I do know what's behind them, and I'm trying to retrain my mind to see things differently.

My Milage:

My Quit Date: 5/1/2009
Smoke-Free Days: 82
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,214
Amount Saved: $830.25

Sorry to hear that those cravings are tough Brenda.

Members sometimes report that even when they are well into their quit, they often experience cravings that can be quite different from the cravings they experience earlier on. These cravings can have more emotional side effects that leave non-smokers feeling sad, tired, or "spaced out."

Stay focused on your quit Brenda and continue to remind yourself of all the accomplishments you have made thus far in your quit. You have come quite a long way and should be very proud of yourself!

Let us know how you are doing and if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

The demon tries to scramble the biochemicals in my brain, messing up the signals. I can't think straight sometimes when I'm craving. And can't even read. What's keeping me out of the stores I think is the $8.00 price tag. I remember that. Luckily, the cravings really do pass, but they're frightening, because I've lost so many quits. I'm getting to the point where I'm getting weepy when a craving hits.
