Fortunate for all of you men to haave this disorder in this day and age. My father had panic disorder, and now suffers from gad. His father and mother had them both as well. And my great-grandfather had anxiety. I'm a 25 almost 26 year-old woman, and I have had anxiety since I was 8. It got really severe again last week. Luckily, I can talk to a psychiatrist or psychologist, get meds, or reach a crisis line without a stigma attached to it. My father, grandfather, grandmother, etc could not.

Hey Outlaw! Do I dare say that I am a woman since you are looking for male sufferers? :eg: I just wanted to throw in my two cents - being a woman I guess I probably do that a lot - hee hee hee. I think the reason there are more women on this particular website than men is because men tend to play the "tough guy" and not admit to feeling weak. I am the only woman in a house of four and I notice that my husband and our boys (not to mention my dad, uncles, nephews, etc.) tend to feel like a man talking about his emotions is considered weak. I think that is incredibly sad and untrue, but it is what I have found to be the case. I just wanted to tell you my opinion because I would hate to think that you feel alone because there are more women on here then men. You are not alone - there are tons of men that suffer in silence. Personally, I think looking and asking for help makes you stronger than keeping things bottled up so no one sees what's going on inside. Admitting to a personal problem takes a lot of strength! Well, I hope that helps anyway. I just didn't want you to think you are alone because you most certainly are not! Hang in there and don't give up!

Rubt could you brak down the diffrent type of anxiety disorders for me in dummy terms, along with symptoms,i know thats alot to ask,and than kinda throw what you think mine is for me.I know thats alot to ask,but i like your mind, another good point is how you based your reply on being passed down my spelling is bad to,so im not going to break out any big words but i belive it is also.My dad had head problems, fast heart rate scared to be in public,my mom has a nervous stomach still takes paxil but is better 20 years of having it,and other symptoms also,my sister and dad both got better without meds..Same with my granparents like you i think im getting the raw dealk here..Im hanging in there friend one day at a time thats all i can say..on that Lester i like that you came on here and vented as a long time anxiety suffer i would like to hear more..i dont think your feeling sorry for yourself at all this disese this terrible, and affects us all diffrent..are you not working because of panic disorder?if you could tell me more about yourself i would like that..God bless and may you have many more good days than bad.. I'm right here! I don't post often, but visit the board at least a couple times a day. I have suffered from GAD and Panic Attacks for about 34 years. Believe me, I feel for everyone on the board, I've been through it all. Right now I'm out of work, and taking Klonopin and Imiprimine. I have good days and bad days like everyone else, random PAs here and there, but I'm getting by. I do feel guilty about being a "bad" parent as I have a difficult time going to many of my sons' games and such, but both he and my wife are VERY supportive of my condition. I'll get off my soapbox now, Thanks for listening!! ;)

Hi Outlaw, I found out some time ago mine is heredity(I think thats how you spell it) it is passed down from my Mum's Mum, My sister and two brothers have it as well, but they didn't get there's until a couple of years ago, and my Mum has only just got anxiety a month ago, and me well I've had mine for 10 or so years now. So I was the first one to get it. But I'm the worsed one out of the lot. I went and seen a phscologist yesterday for the first time and she told me alot of people she deals with, with anxiety disorders there's are passed down from family as well. I found out from her there are all types of anxiety disorders and she said mine was GAD which is Generalized Anxiety Disorder with the potienal of getting agrophobia. Excuse my spelling, I'm not to good with some words. Well only a short note because I'm in the middle of cooking. Anyway how are you, is everything okay with you... Ruby.....
