How to Cope

for 16 år siden 0 101 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Just had to put my two scents in because I can relate.  I realized that no matter how stressful life can be, a smoke NEVER solved anything.  someone once told me that and it took me years to actually figure out what the heck she meant.  I realized I have always had stressors no matter what I was doing (not all the time but occasionally) and I am actually learning to handle them myself instead of looking for that crutch (cig) that will kill me someday if I didn't quit.  We are all here for you and we all want to succeed and help those that also do.

ML age has nothing to do with it - only Freedom ! .....

Smokers are trapped to their addiction to nicotine. As non-smokers freedom from this nasty addiction is what we all seek & let me tell you this..... freedom is what you will get.

I aint telling you no fibs cos believe me i am there, there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

"mental health is suffering" we can all relate to this, as non-smokers we are having to re-learn the basic emotions. How to deal with situations without a self medicated dose of dopamine (via nicotine from the cigarette)..

We learn just fine,  just find it tough having to do it this time our lives !

Stick it out cos the rewards are unbelievable !

ML, Smoking is not the answer believe me I know!
I know what you are going through I have been feeling the same way. When it really got bad I would ask what  hell was I thinking of  giving up smoking at my age and did I really want to continue to do this, OR why do I want to put myself through so much.  I have a long history of depression and I have found it very hard at times just to get through a day at a time.
I am finding it very difficult  at the moment I am trying out new antidepressants to see if they will help. Some day's are better than others . I am disappointed  that I have slipped back so to speak  But I do know giving up smoking is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself and my hope is that I never go back. Just take it one day at a time you are not depriving yourself of anything you are giving yourself a chance of living a better healthier life . Just stay with us ML you can do it your stronger than the nicodemon

The silence is deafening and I guess by now you may well have lit up and who could blame you?

Six hours on from your post and I hope you haven't. It doesn't matter how long you smoked, quitting is the right thing to do. No matter what you are going through right now, smoking will not help. I know it sounds like a broken gramophone record around here but it's so very true.

I hope Wazz's words helped you and I hope this post finds you still smokefree. It's hard at times but there are enough coping tools around here to help you maintain.

Tough it out ML – I wish you well.

Good Luck

I truly dont have any answers for you but I am here for you if I can help. Im not doctor or health specialist but Im pretty sure
smoking doesnt help your mental health. But seeing how i cant seem to stay quit for very long when i try i

For the past few weeks, I've had a lot of stressors and some to come as yet.  I know deep in my heart that smoking will not relieve them but, oh, how I want to just quit the quit and go back to smoking.  At my age, I sometimes wonder what possessed me to quit after smoking for 50 years.  Well, the money I'm saving is nice.  And I love to see my stats and how far I've come without smoking.  But my mental health is suffering and I honestly don't know what to do.  Help.
