Thanks everyone - I'm back in the office we just returned from the onsite visit. It was tough and it was tense, but I am proud to say I did not smoke, nor was the temptation as bad as I thought it would be. My CEO did in fact ask if it was okay to smoke, I said sure no problem, he offered one and I declined. He smoked, I did not. The smell was strange, I knd of liked it but mostly did not. I can in fact smell it on my shirt at the moment and that I don't like at all.
Long and short of it - I passed the test. I went through a very tense situation and had to be in close quarters with a smoker and old Nic didn't even come close to beating me down.
I WON!!!!! And will continue to do so - one day at a time.
Thanks again everyone!

Hey CD- I know you'll do just fine! and you're right its a real challenge. In the early days of my quit I was invited to lunch at a dear friend's house who smokes one after the other. However, I looked at this way, I cannot avoid smokers for ever-someday somewhere I am going to be near one and I will have to cope.
When she first lit up I have to say the smell was quite pleasant but as it burnt down it stunk, and her uncomfortableness around me made the whole incident awkward.........but the main thing was I coped, and so will you.

I can remember in the first few weeks of my quit I would stand beside the smokers outside the local shops and smell the smoke, on one or two occasions I almost mugged them for the smoke. Now I find I can't get away from the smoke quick enough.

Going onsite at a hostile location with the CEO of my company who is a heavy smoker. Much stress. Taking my car. I imagine he will smoke in the vehicle. I'm not going to tell him not too. I know second hand smoke and all that..... Hey I smoked for a long time, a little second hand right now won't kill me....
Here's the deal - I usually look here again and again during the day to keep my resolve. Today I can't do that, so, let me post this message right now....
NO MATTER THE TEMPTATION - I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY.
This I promise myself and this group.
I will be able to finally check in sometime late this afternoon and let you know how it went. I am positive beyond any doubt that I will be reporting I had a tough time but did not smoke.
Don't you just love being tested????
Ok - off I go.... wish me luck..... this is not going to be pretty......
