Stickin,

Distractions are a very valuable technique to help through any quit. Small or big, they both work. Whether you choose to train for a triathlon or just read a book for a few minutes this can be a very helpful way to make it successfully change your lifestyle.

Did you take up a new distraction at the beginning of your quit? Members, what have you used to distract yourself from going back to cigarettes?

Hi Kelly

Very proud to see that you have been stickin to it!  That's the name of the game and the process. It gets easy Kelly as I think the tide has turned for you.  I am ok, thanks for asking!  Stay quit for you, me and  the rest of us.
Stickin to it

Distractions are a solid bet.  Be proactive do not make it easy on nicodemon, become a moving target. Change your name, side step your die hard smoking friends, prepare for a triathlon, take up tennis, bowling, walking, swimming, hiking, going to movies or theater in the day time rather than at night, find another room in the house to make phone calls from, move your computer to another room or wall, get rid of that smoking chair or replace it with another, go to work early or go in later.  Develop new routines, patterns and activities.

Please find that smoking is something that you can happily live without. Find that you can begin to quit thinking about coming down with lung cancer or emphysema. Realize that quitting is a goal well worth achieving.  It makes a statement about you.
