Yes, I agree with the others, the nicotine is out of your system, putting the patch on now will put nicotine into your body. I am reading Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking" It is on line or you can buy it. we opened a can of worms when we gave our brains nicotine.. now we have to try to shut off those receptors and get the good ones in working order. Remember cigarettes only take and take they give NOTHING in return... except to keep feeding it. I went of the Chantix after 5 weeks and I was just fine. You have 3 weeks under your belt. YOu'll be fine! Tell yourself that and not "Oh my what am I going to do!" Mental attitude is key. You do not have the nicotine in your system anymore and I agree with what's been said about adding it back into your system. Don't do that. Keep your water and candies and whatever else you have been using and just remember "You have smoked your last cigarrette!" Agree, you are free, try and find another way to cope if you can. If you start the NRT, you will eventually have to withdraw for REAL again...not so fun. Do what you need to get you through. Hi Tiny! I agree. The side effects are one reason that I quit taking Chantix early, even though I didn't quit taking it because of my doctor's advice! It's another drug, one that can create dependance. We're trying to get off a drug dependance. Chantix helped get us off the nicotine and you have been off the nicotine for 3 weeks!!! From here on out, it IS all mental and we just have to take the bull by the horns and fight it!!! IT'S HARD, I know!!! My stomach gets wound up tighter than an 8 day clock sometimes, and one of those times is right now!!! And all I know is that I am not going to take any more Chantix and I am not going to smoke!!! You CAN do it!!! Tiny, Congratulations on 21 days smoke free! The nicotine is already out of your body so you don't really need to add it back in to help with the cravings. At this point, most of your cravings are probably mental and associated to a trigger or a situation that you used to smoke in. Work on getting some coping skills together to deal with these types of situations. If you really feel like you would like to use a NRT talk to your doctor or pharmacist about which one is right for you. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

I have been smoke free for 21 days now but my doctor took me off the Chantix because of the side effects. I don't want to go back to smoking at all - but should I think about the low-dose patches?
