I also have GERD and a hiatic hernia. I was put on something else (it starts with an R). I've found that if you watch what you eat then it gets better. I was on a diet of toast, potatoes and water for 2 weeks bc it was so bad. Just watch the citrus, spicey stuff, caffiene, etc..
Im not trying to scare anyone but I was tested and I actually do have acid reflux, also referred to as GERD and a hiatel hernia so its worth looking into. but its no big deal really. the doctor just put me on prevacid. however if you do have it and wait too long to get on medication(and Im talking having it for years untreated) it can cause erosion of your esophogus which will require surgery. so, if your having the burning stuff coming up in your throat and heartburn alot (like at least once a week) talk to your doctor. they will put ya on either nexium or prevacid first for awhile and then if that doesnt work they will have ya get the scope which is no big deal really. I had the scope (3 times)and youre asleep and dont have any pain afterwards.
dear grace,
i had developed acid reflux after my panic attacks set in too!! they're terrible- i even had a scope done & of course it showed nothing, but i guess it give me peace of mind- then one day it just went away, now after two months it's back again!!i don't know which is worse- i've read that it is all linked together- gee imagine that- hope it gets better for you
When I get anxious I get awful indigestion which is actually quite scarry cos it can cause feelings in your chest that make your heart feel like its popping!! When I get chest pain I lay on my back with my hands on my tummy and force myself to breath out of my tummy rather then my chest.
I remember once an old boss telling me our bodies all experience aches and pains - its good because there are so many sensitive nerve endings etc in our bodies. Chest pain can be caused from many things - anxiety, stress, gas, muscle to name a few.
Sometimes I have the chest pain with my attacks, and other times I don't.
My last one started with this tight feeling on my chest. Almost like an elephant was sitting on me! The more I thought about the chest pain, the more panicked I became and before long I was hyperventilating and totally wiggin out in front of a room full of family on Christmas eve.
I walked myself outside and forced myself to sing the 12 days of Christmas about 20 times until my mind had gotten so preoccupied the feelings were gone.
I agree... keeping your mind busy on other things is the key but sometimes that's tough to do.
My husband always says, " think of something else real quick." So one time I told him, " Yeah... well imagine you have an elephant sitting on your chest and somebody tells you to think about the lovely ocean. You see how easy it is." ROFL
One thing that i have learned is that if people with panic disorder dont have anything else to do with their minds then they think about every little symptom that they have and turn it into something major. If not thinking about it helps, then DONT THINK ABOUT IT! Even in this book that i'm reading it says that distractions help to cut down on panic attacks bc your brain cant concentrate on 2 things at a time
That's probably what it is...acid reflux/heartburn... not the cancer! Whether the anxiety causes the heartburn or the heartburn causes the anxiety...now that's a whole other mystery!
So would you say it is like false symptoms appearing real? or would you say it is real caused by false symptoms?? LOL!!!
I know if I get up and take my mind off of it, it will stop but if I even allow myself to think about it, then it is there.
