Wow, you guys are lucky. The first time I panicked in my life lasted for about 35 minutes. But the second time, where I induced it myself, it lasted for 4 days straight! I should have gotten help, but my pride got in the way and before I knew it, 4 days had passed not eating, sleeping and begging God to take my life! I have since been able to mentally suppress the panic triggers, but just had a relapse last week. I am doing better, but still fighting it with God's help!
I was in denial for years insisting I wasn't experiencing panic because of the length of my attacks. Finally I agreed to take a program similiar to the one on this site because I felt what the heck did I have to lose and in the meantime I'd keep on getting more tests done. Well the program was surprisingly effective and I did discover that the "peak" of most of my attacks probably was about 10 minutes but often I had panic on top of panic or the worst sensation would leave but I'd still have anxiety and anxiety and anxious thoughts can last 24 hours. You know, I have all these books I have bought on panic attacks and overcoming and such. All that I read gives the classic symptoms but they generally say that a panic attacks last 10-15 min. Well, I don't find that with mine. I usually feel panicky for much longer than that and sometimes it just stays with me all day long. If I take a Xanax it will pretty much get rid of it, but the after effects of the panic seem to stick around for hours and even sometimes the next day I feel like ****. What about you guys??
