Yes Awena - I'm constantly looking at sites to "check my symptoms" not good and now unfortunately my oldest son is doing the same thing (I guess I do it so often he's seen me doing it and I thought I was doing it discreetly!). Not only do I look it up online but I go to the library, I look in medical books.....I find that I end up getting a lot of symptoms I probably wouldn't get if I didn't look the darn things up in the first place....you are right what a vicious cycle!
I find if I look things up on the internet about my symptoms they get worse and I panic about them more. I know this is out of context but does anyone else have health anxiety here? I feel as though I have to look things up to see if I am ok and then well it turns into a viscious cycle. Blah
This is great! Thanks for the link. I always wonder if what we all have is anxeity or is it something else that is causing us to have these feelings...
So many things that "could" be panic or anxiety...
Thanks for the replies guys.
I have been searching on the internet regarding breathing problems, and have come across something called 'hyperventilation syndrome'. Have a look at www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/hyperventsyn.html
it makes me wonder whether I have this problem. There are lots of website regarding this.
Hi! I have trouble with breathing also. My panic attacks occur when I am driving so I understand how scary it is. I find myself hyperventilating and when I try to regulate it, it gets worse. By then I'm well on the way to a massive case of the shakes. So far, what helps me best is to open the window so I can feel a breeze and know there's enough air. Singing out loud in the car forces me to breathe deeply and takes my attention off the problem....sometimes! Nothing works well for me when trying to drive at night. Yet.
Good luck!!!
Yes I find the more I focus on regulating my breathing sometimes the worse it is because I find that I zero on on anything that feels odd to me so if I have a headache or a muscle spasm I become very anxious and focus on that area waiting to see if its going to continue or get worse, I tense up then forget to breath. Then when I realize I'm not breathing and try focusing on that I begin to panic about my breathing. It is a vicious cycle and why a CBT program is good because you monitor how you're feeling and you work on your breathing when you're relaxed as well so you can focus on deep breathing in a relaxed state so it becomes nature.
Hi guys,
Just wondered if anyone else had a problem with their breathing. I find that I forget to breathe. Daft as it might sound but I find that I hold my breath alot. I am not stressed as the time I do it, but I get the panicky feelings and I notice that I am not breathing. I then find it very hard to regulate my breathing. The more I try to concentrate on my breathing the more panicky I feel. It is like a vicious circle.
I have tried breathing exercises, which I can do when I am lying down, but not when driving, at work etc. Any advice or anyone else dealing with this? Any advice or tips would be very much appreciated right now. Thank you.
