Mary - you are still "trying" to quit. That is wonderful news. You can do this. Quit looking at your stats/days/ect. Take this one hour at a time. It is when you quit "trying" is when you will fail. I have faith in you and I think you are going to make it! Mary, This is a hard journey! Take it one day at time and prepare for that pesky 5th day! You know its coming so use your tools and coping mechanisms and push forward to day 6! Also use relaxation techniques to relax yourself and rid yourself of that extra stress! Josie, Support Specialist

Yes, Mary, this quitting thing is hard. But you can do it. I know this because I tried many times to quit. So did just about everyone else here. And the one thing that we did that finally worked? We stopped. We just got to the mindset where we said "I am not going to let a piece of paper wrapped around a bunch of poisonous weeds run my life." Yes, it's hard. But there are certain tricks and things that help you get through. 1. Get rid of all the smokes. Get rid of the butts. Get rid of the ashtrays and the lighters and anything else that is related to smoking. 2. Get rid of the mindset that you are not strong enough to quit smoking. You ARE strong enough. 3. Make up your mind that you are going to push through every craving and every bit of junkie talk that makes you cave in. Make up your mind that you are not going to let any situation, any person, or any feeling drag you back to that addiction. 4. Celebrate every day. Wake up every morning and thank God for getting you through the night and ask him to be your partner in getting through the day. Then every hour or two, reward yourself...even just by wrapping your arms around yourself and saying "I am doing this!" Say to yourself "Yes,this is hard, but I can do this and I am doing this." 5. Don't give up, Mary. Keep coming here everytime you feel weak or need help. We will be right here to give you support. I'm glad you're here and I hope you will stay. I believe in you! Hi Mary Smoking is the hardest thing to beat. It's categorized with cocain and heroin addiction. The thing is you haven't given up which is great. Keep trucking...you'll do it. I've slipped so many times that I can't keep track of them. I'm on my 6th day and feeling pretty good. I think if you had only one or two down the road it might affect your cravings but not as severe, just like me. My first three days were really bad but it's a lot easier now that I passed those 3 days. Just take it one step at a time and then pretty soon you'll be taking it one day at a time. You just have to set your mind to it and I know you can do it Mary. Hang in there. Ok here's the truth. I am suppose to be making my 2 wk mark at midnite. Instead because of a couple smoke's i have to reset my quit thing for the 3rd time. I can't seem to get past 5 days. I have made it twice now 5 days each time. Then i goof up and have a puff. Never that many. but just enough to screw me up again. I am on my 3rd day now. again!!!!!!!! I just can't beleive this. I made it though alcholisum, made it though child birth twice. i don't really consider myself weak. But this quitting thing is Hard.
