If you quit smoking, in the beginning it give a few rough days sometimes even weeks or months. After that what is left: Your thoughts about it. If you think about quitting and you think it's hard: It will be hard. If you see it for what it really is: It's not so hard at all. Try to see it as getting out of a bad relationship, in the beginning you miss it, after a while you are happy you are out of it. Some people love to dwell on and on but what is there to dwell on? The smell? The stains? The chance of getting a terrible disease? A cigaret is nothing else than a piece of paper with terrible poisons in it. A cigaret can never be a friend, it is a THING that kills people. (A person or an animal can be a friend, a thing can't) Quitting smoking is such a good thing, in fact it's the most positive thing ever. You get healtier and you get less wrinkles.... I know the addiction can put strange thoughts in someones mind, but if you think about it in a positive way, you do yourself a big favor. Don't speak about "Nicodemon", that are your own thoughts, you make yourself think that thoughts, no-one else can. This worked for me and maybe someone in the beginning of the quit can use this. Thanks Anna, I am seeing more and more of these posts of late and I find them very uplifting and so refreshing. I have long promoted the positive quit here but became a voice in the wilderness some time back as the site became gripped by dark forces who loved pity parties and seemed happy in sadness. I am certain that at that time potential quitters took one look in here and departed faster than they arrived. I hated that. We can all get down on ourselves if we want to but what's the point? As has been expressed here often, we can choose to be joyous or miserable, it takes the same effort. I choose happy and always will and I choose not to smoke and I am happy about that too. Well said, Anna. I agree with you - positive outlook towards the quit is so helpful. HOWEVER, sometimes you have to go through a few rougher patches and struggles and come to grips with the real idea of losing a terrible addiction (that you thought was your "friend") and gaining freedom. When someone is ready to get past that, the quit becomes much more manageable. For anyone who reads my recent posts and thinks I've had it strictly easy - I struggled on and off for several months before getting it right. But then the light turned on and things (so far!) have fallen into place. So I, too, challenge those of you who are struggling to try to get beyond it and embrace your quit.
