Thanks fellow quitters. You see, it is seeing how you guys are living the life that helps me through. When I first quit, I was annoyed by the people on here who had long quits, some for years. But then, everything annoyed me in those first few days ...lol. Now, you are all just inspiration to me and I can see you helping the newbies and it all makes sense to me now. God knows, you need all the support you can get in those first few hours/days/weeks. Unhooked I have especially enjoyed your somewhat unhinged (in the nicest possible way) posts - I love your turn of phrase and somewhat Python'esque sense of humour. WTG too on reaching your own milestone - 6 months. In your words WOOHOO, and again a big WOOOOOHOOOOOO from Down Under. Hope you enjoyed your reward! I am rewarding my 50 days with a lovely fillet steak for tea and cheesy baked potatoes. Then a warm bath, a chick flick and off to the land of nod in clean sheets ... yay, can't wait. Freebird, congrats on 50 days. Glad you are doing so well. I too feel a freedom that I did not expect. I have more days than I thought possible when I started. Funny how time just slips away. I consider myself a non smoker too. I'm not really keeping up with the number of days like I did and now I am suprised sometimes when I look at my mileage. My next one(big milestone) is 6 months. After all the holidays, then I will celebrate. Congrats to everyone else here celebrating milestones. I think the milestones are important as they fix something in the mind, almost like an anchor. The good thing is, when you reach one milestone, you simply set another and so on and so on. I am feeling quite proud of myself. I've heard ex-smokers say they just got tired of smoking or that they felt ready to quit. I could never understand that and always thought they were mad. I didn't even really want to stop this time but did so in support of my husband who had had heart surgery. He forcibly dragged me through the first few weeks (I was truly vile) and now, I have never looked back. Somewhere around 3 weeks, I began to "see" things differently, it was almost as though my whole body simply gave this huge sigh of relief. I am aware of the 60 day "thing" that some people can go through but I feel confident in my quit. I know that I will never smoke again ... that is not a false confidence that whispers to me "you can have one, you're strong enough to only have a puff". I've accepted that that is never an option for me - I accept life as a non-smoker and it is great! Good luck for everyone else in attaining their goals. The "veterans" on this site really inspire me, so thanks for visiting here and helping those of us who are just starting that journey.
