Hi Marie, You are right on target for your 9th day. It is cravings, crying, mood swings, depression; but, What else can we do? This is the journey called quitting a drug addiction. It will get better if you do not feed the addiction. Pamper yourself when you can. Lay on the couch and watch a movie, take aromatherapy baths, use nice lotion, eat some chocolate...just do not smoke. Over all, I've kept a positive attitude about the quit for the most part, there are moments when I just hate someone who is still smoking (my husband) and now the exhaustion is catching up with me and I'm tired of flipping out over the smallest things (my teenager is hardly speaking to me), and it all makes you want to just throw your hands up and give in. The mental battle is wearing me out......to the point I'll tell myself fine go smoke, then the other part of me says no, don't do it.....and it just goes back and forth like a tennis match, one reason debating another and I'm quite tired of watching it. Marie, Hang in there, it get's easier. Distract yourself with things that make you happy (other than smoking). A good magazine, inspirational quotes, a bath tonight. It's the best way to make it through these tough days. One thing that helped me was to NOT think about tomorrow and "never" smoking again. I only worry about today and making it through today without smoking. Don't think about tomorrow until tomorrow comes, just concentrate on today. I haven't heard others mention in, but, I felt the same way around days 9 & 10. Exhaustion maybe. Stick with your coping skills, the ones that have been working for you so far, and know that you are almost over the hump. Today so far as just been awful, one craving after another, and it didn't help that I just had a client in the office who obviously just smoked before he came in......nothing seems to silence the craves either.......and I'm doubting my willpower today more than ever.
