Some of you will remember, some will find it funny but early on in my quit I was telling a customer how hard it was and the cravings were driving me batty. In sympathy the customer put a cigarette on the counter to "help" me. I could not touch that cig. I knew if I touched it I'd smoke it. It stayed there for a couple of days because I couldn't touch it to throw it away. Finally I sucked it up in the vacuum. That's how much I could not be around cigarettes. Ok, where are you getting the cigs???? Are you buying a pack, smoking a couple and then throwing them away, or do you have cigs laying around? The reason I ask, is because my first week to two weeks, I could not be around cigs. I could not have even a stray butt laying in the yard. All cigs needed to be destroyed, all empty packs thrown away (just in case one cig was hiding in one). Remove the temptation to get you through day 3! Hey Gin! yes, Day 3 is hard, but it is not impossible. If you think you can, you can, if you think you can't?..... Do you have to change something then? Yes, prepare yourself, you can do this! Don't let a little cigarette control your life, it's your turn, you are the one in control, nothing and no one else can control you without your permission! So go get it girl! It is yours for the taking! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 245 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,125 Amount Saved: $2,584.75 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 22 Mins: 50 Seconds: 42

Gin, You are not hopeless you just need to be firm with your decision. It is really important that you make it through the first week and rid your body of nicotine or get the help of a NRT. Please use the program provided and come here often to post. Brenna Bilingual Health Educator

Gin, the person who can help you is you. YOU have to want to quit. You have to realize you have an addiction and treat it as such. N.O.P.E. Not one puff ever. If you feed the addiction it will survive. Starve it out. I can not stress enough that this quit is up to you. For you and by you. You can do it. I know it is hard. I smoked over 40 years and today I am 4 months free. I remember the first three weeks like they were yesterday and I still have hard times. But this is my quit and I am protecting it. You can learn how to do that on this site. I am still learning. You start and this group will pull you through. Hi Wazz, I'm with you 100%. Let's do it together. I haven't had a cigarette since 2:00 this afternoon and it's 9:30 and I haven't had any major cravings yet...but day 3 will be the test. It's great that you haven't given up either. If we set our mind to it, we can do it. I'm getting help from a friend here in town. She smoked 3 packs a day and quit for 10 years now. She's super nice and very understanding and patient. I hope you have somebody like that in your life. If not, I'm here for you. Hope to hear from you soon. so this time didnt work and day 3 is the downfall for you. I have a downfall number also. This is my fourth attempt in 6 years to quit and I have fallen everytime on the same number day. So its in our head we cant make it past that number but we can. Whatever it takes and if you really want to get through day 3 I bet you can. Our quit is almost the same amount of time I will work with you and vice versa if youde like. Gin, if you get in trouble - ask for help - ie. HELP ME in your subject line, wait for 10 replies, the crave will fade. If you did that before I missed it :( The only way to stop the cravings is to stop smoking. Not one puff ever. Are you ready? Are you checked in to this? Are you armed? Get ready and as my wise friends said when you want to quit more than you want to smoke you will succeed. I know you can do it, do you? Nobody is hopeless, Gin. But "hope" won't get it done. It takes heart, guts, determination, and a positive attitude. You know you have troube with day 3, you've learned that. So get a strategy for day 3, then take one day at a time after that. When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, you will be successful. Gin, I feel for ya. It's a hard thing to do and day three is a b*&%^. You just have to decide not to smoke. When you feel like you can't handle it anymore and have to reach for the cigarette, reach for the tools you have armed yourself with. Reach for water. Do some deep breathing. Decide NOT to give in. That's it. Have you completed the program here? Read thru the workbook? Also, if you feel like you are going to cave, post first. Put "Help" in the subject line. Wait for five responses and re-evaluate. You can do this. You really can. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,130 Amount Saved: $415.35 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 9 Mins: 24 Seconds: 34
