I went through the same thing when I stopped taking chantix. It did go away..after I got myself a quick reward. In this case fudgsicles, creamsicles, and sorbet. Also, you've just passed the 30 day mark. Congratulations, by the way! Often around these kinds of milestones cravings increase. We're used to rewarding ourselves with cigarettes. That's why rewards are important. They increase the "feel good" neurotransmitters. I'm going to bump up a thread for you if I can find it about this subject. Chantix impacts these same neurotransmitter pathways indirectly.
Also I'll bump up a thread about weaning off chantix. It's good you're consulting your doctor, but sometimes I think the drug is so new that they don't know all that much about it. I've seen some people who were troubled by nightmares and sleep disturbances say they either took the night time dosage earlier and/or halfed that dose.
Bottom line is, these cravings will pass, and by taking an active part in managing them, you can get through them. Just keep remembering, smoking will not get rid of the craves, it will only relieve them for 20 minutes or so. Then you will crave another one. And another. Breathe deeply, drink plenty of water, and reward yourself.
