good for you 2tone, don't believe the junkie lies, you know the truth is in how good you feel, how you look, how good you must smell these days, and how much time you have to live life instead of living around this killer habit. Reconnect with the reasons you quit, and note the positives you see everyday and appreciate them. ie...my skin looks great so I am told :) Protect your quit! WOOHOO!! 2tone!! Good for you for getting through it, I hope this helped you to develop some strategies for the next "el toro poopoo" storm, cause you know there will be more! Also, reward yourself for beating the crave, that is still important! THANKS EVERYONE! I love you all! No. I didn't smoke. I read all of your posts twice. I can't smoke and I won't smoke. I just don't remember what to do when there is a crisis (no matter ho trivial it is). When you smoked your whole adult life, you don't have ANY coping skills. I've been holding every single emotion in for nine months. You see, I just feel like I miss my old friend. My smokes were there when I was happy and sad, stressed and relaxed...you get the idea. It's all about coping. Thanks to all of you for being there! 2tone, Hopefully you are still part of the land of the living with us smokefree folk. How are you doing today? Let us know either way, huh? You may want a smoke and a drink for the rest of your life. What's that saying, "one is too many and a thousand never enough"? The thing with us addicts is that it would never just be one smoke. It will never fill the void that we think it will and we have to find new ways of coping. Look at some posts in the "Avoiding Relapse" section - I haven't seen one that said, "I went back to smoking and it was exactly what I needed!" They are filled with regret, sadness and all the BS is still there, fully intact but now you have the BS of trying to quit smoking again. Break down whatever is going on into manageable chunks and put one day behind you at a time. Let us know how we can help. Sometimes just venting is a good thing. 2tone, You've received some great messages from your fellow members and I can only echo them. Every quitter needs to learn how to cope in new ways. Now's you're chance! Take it! If you take the alternative, smoke and lose your quit, don't think this same problem isn't going to pop up again at a later date in your next quit. You've done the work, battled the cravings, gotten all the physical stuff out of the way now it's time to work on the psychological. Take the coping strategies you've learned thus far and put them to use and start adding more of them to your arsenal. You've got some great ressources available to you right now: a therapist, a whole gang of quitters and a few moderators. We're all behind you and we'll do our best to help you in any way we can. A good starting point in your search for new coping strategies may be at our sister site: www.depressioncenter.net There, you'll learn about your relationships with others, assertive communication skills, thought challenging and the list goes on. 2 tone smoking is not going to make your life less stressful, I threw away a nine month quit and it certainly did not make me feel better it made me feel worse, Try eating chocolate no one can feel bad when eating chocolate. Life can be so stressful and if you take a puff of a cigarette will the problems go away automaticaly. No they will still be there plus more feeling guilty giving in to smoking. Becoming a slave to nicotine again. Go get a massage or do something else that puts a smile on your face besides smoking. Everytime i want a cigarette when i am stressed. I tell myself over and over and over again smoking will not solve the problem. After saying it so much my need to smoke goes away. Sometime i get so upset i feel like i lost my best friend who was alway there for me when i was stressed but reading so many peoples post i know cigarettes arent my best friend they are the REAPER!! Hang on things will get better My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 760 Amount Saved: $148.20 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 22 Seconds: 10

2Tone yes, i totally agree that it sucks that we used cigs to deal with stress and now we have to learn new ways to do it, and it feels really crappy at times not to have those cigs to dull the pain. BUT......you chose to stop smoking for some reasons. I don't know you, so I don't know what they were, but they must have been some pretty good ones for you to go 9 months without a cigarette. Do you think possibly that you are going through a milestone crave and need to reward yourself really well at this point? That is supposed to raise the "feel good" neurotransmitters...worth a try, yeah? No matter what...I am so glad you posted your dilemma.....it really doesn't make sense to smoke at this point...all it will bring you is more health problems and a sinking feeling for having thrown away those nine beautiful months. It might be helpful to continue therapy, find a new therapist, find and DO some pleasurable activites, write a Grateful journal for all the good things in your life, and/or spend that $1500 on something really wonderful. I'll be watching for you...please let us know how you're doing, ok?
