Boldinaz, Remember that your body is only telling you it is time for a cigarette. Retrain your body. Suck on a mint when you crave. Eventually your body will tell you it is time to eat a mint. (that is what happened to me!) You are healing! Keep healing, you will be soooooo glad that you did. Easier days are coming around the corner for you. Oh, and drink lots of water to flush out those nasty poisons. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 204 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,060 Amount Saved: $856.80 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 21 Mins: 47 Seconds: 25

tryagain, you've come way too far to give it up now. I hope your getting yourself away from the gum.? It's funny, I call it a crave, but I think it's our brains tricking us through association. Our brain associates coffee with what? A cigarette of course. A beer with what? U know. A meal with what? WE need to retrain our brain to think differently. Now that I know this, the "craves" don't seem near as bad, it's just my brain trying to trick me. Yes there are physical symptoms that come with it, but your brain is a very powerful organ. But I'm not going to let it win, I know the craves are part of "the healing". As long as we're healing, we're doing the right thing for ourselves. My biggest crave came on or near day 21 for me everytime. When I say everytime, I mean I have quit over 8 times in the last 5 years. I would say 80% of my failures came after the 3rd week. Just my 2 cents.

thanks for the good advice anna very good post and i'm only on day 4 of my cold turkey quit and the past few days have well been very very hard but i've made it 4 days and I know if I can just make it one crave at a time and not look to far ahead I will be ok. Also because on my last quit attempt I think I looked to far ahead and thought to myself it would be imposible to stay smoke free that long... I know this is going to be a hard journey for all of us but we can make it togather :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $5.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 52 Seconds: 27

About the milestone craving I've had 'em, as have many others. The way I have dealt with them is to anticipate and prepare for them ahead of time. One theory is that we are used to rewarding ourselves for a job well done with a cigarette, so when we reach a milestone our addicted mind is crying out for its reward. So, what I do is give myself a different reward, and be very conscious that I am rewarding myself for not smoking while doing so. I'm hoping that over time my mind will get used to a different type of reward instead of cigarettes. The last bad milestone urges (I prefer to call them that) I had was around 90 days. They just didn't go away for days. Finally I went to the store and bought creamsicles, fudgsicles, and sorbet. Figured I would be prepared in case they lasted for days more. I ate one creamsicle and that was it. They went away. Now, I don't usually reward myself with food anymore, but during that particular time, it is what I wanted. More often I reward myself with a trip somewhere or some type of pampering, like a manicure or massage. The point is to be aware of what the urges are about and consciously do something differently. Hope this helps. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 126 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,040 Amount Saved: $856.80 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 15 Mins: 13 Seconds: 57

Thank you Anna. It does help and today so far I am feeling better. I had heard about it but never imagined it would be this bad. Last night after that post I almost just gave up. It's like sometimes the fight just exhausts me. It's not that there is a trigger or anything that would provoke me to crave or think about smoking..it's just after two days of fighting it almost non stop after almost a month of work...well, I just feel worn out! Thanks again...I am looking forward to a great smoke free day. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 560 Amount Saved: $154.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 7 Mins: 48 Seconds: 12

I'm at the 6 month craves. Not that there's any difference since I've never really been free of craves. I'm hoping that after a year I really start seeing a difference.
