Just noticed your stats, although the the gum has helped clear your lungs you're still hooked on the nicotine. Bear is right, spit out the gum, enough if enough. Time to move on! kiwi, I have mentioned Allen Carr's book many times and never had it deleted. It is another aid to help people quit smoking; why would it be deleted? Sparky, may i say congratulations on mentioning Allen Carr in a post that yet has not been deleted. Sticken to it, if you have any trace of nicotine in your system the neurotoxins are still working their stuff so .. Fact - no matter what the situation, nrt, cold turkey, chantix what ever, If you stop introducing nicotine into your body you will suffer approx. 3 days of nicotine withdrawl. it all depends on your frame of mind. Mercy, what a story. I agree with Stickin WOW!! I also agree with you, each person's quit belongs to them. Whatever you need to do to quit then that is the right thing for you. As a repeater, I too have tried about everything there is. My doctor has me on Chantix. She put me on it longer than most because she knows how hard I have struggled in the past. I did not want to med, I wanted to do it my way :eg: well I gave in and did what the doctor said and walla, I have quit smoking. So if someone has to be on somthing a little longer than others, so be it. We are all here for the same reason, to be smoke free. Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 940 Amount Saved: $282.00 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 17 Mins: 12 Seconds: 59

HI, I'm a successful NRT Nicorette gum user. It worked for me. I have tried to quit many times for many years. I tired...cold turkey..... Zyban....patches...pathches with gum...and natural means.... stop smoking books and the gum alone. The gum suited me best. That I knew when I went into this "real" quit. 1)I used about 5 or 6 pieces durring the day for about 3 weeks. My daughter had a couple of patches left from her previous quit attempt so I used a patch everyday with the gum for about 3 or 4 days. (I forgot how many days exactly...but it wasn't many) (I didn't use a piece every half hour or so as they said)....just about 5 or 6 pieces. 2) I then used about 3 or 4 a day for quit a while...perhaps till 4 months. 3) I then had 3 pieces a day. morning...after work...and evening. 4) I then startd half pieces and I didn't notice the difference. I sometimes bite a half piece and then bite a half piece of regular gum and chewed it together. 5) At 5 months I was using a half piece in the morning and half piece after work. I found I didn't need the evening piece... the power walking and some bible study and this website in the evenings took care of craves. 6)Just before six months I was even biting off less than a half piece. It was so small I could harldy chew it. 7) Our lovely unhooked (love her to death) talked some sense in me and made me see that two little tiney bites a day wasn't doing piddle pooh and it was a mental security blanket. 7) I wanted my 6 month anniversay to be really special. It was only a few days away. Sooooooooooooo I stop the two little bites a day and didn't even notice any real craves(for the gum...not cigarettes ..funny huh?) A few thoughts...but no real biggie deal. 8) after being off those two little bits....my quit made a hudge turn for the better. Each day I feel the freedom more and more. I'm loving it. Would this turn around have happened faster if I had given the gum up totally sooner. I suspose so. But.... I knew I had to do it my way. I WOULD NOT RISK THIS QUIT FOR ANYTHING. Even at the beginning of 5 months, I was not ready to give up those half pieces two or three times a day. I just knew ME inside. I went with my gut feeling in this quit. I weaned off in such little bits I never craved. My step downs were so tiny my body barely noticed. whole piece...half piece... little bites off of the piece. Silly huh?.....but it worked for me. TALK ABOUT STEPPING DOWN..lol PS: I have to say... I knew in my heart, that even though I was on the gum longer than most people I would not be one of those people that would be addict to the gum. That was not an option. It is just my weaning off time took longer. May I add.... my mental focus was basically where it needed to be this time. The mental has to be RIGHT. I know my other quits ...as much as I had wanted to quit...always were leaving a "way out" On the down side of my slow weaning process....it kept me thinking about cigarettes longer. I think even those little tiny bites I was taking was just enough to keep a pin head of the drug in my system as a reminder to my brain. All.. I know... what I did worked. I won't guestion it....I give God thanks ALL THE TIME for his support, love and strength.
