Darpel, ok you wanted original idea.
1)
How about naming all the states of america. Write them down and count them? Your crave will be over by the time you finish.
If you get good at that then do it in reverse alphabetical order.
2)
Learn how to play chess. Each time you get a crave, learn how a new peice moves.

Unfortuntely for me I have quit so many times. I would give into the craves and the voice in my head telling me to smoke. Fortuntely with this quit I knew what to expect. The craves do diminish, but in the begining it is hard. I tell myself my body is healing. I remind myself I did this to me with all the years of smoking. I drink water. I go for walks. I take naps if I can. I come here and read. I pace and if I need to I howl at the moon. :eg: Just hang in there it will get better.
Keep the Quit

On real bad craves, if I can I'll go walk for an hour. Also drinking cold water is a good one.

I don't get them much anymore Darpel, but I used to get out a straw, and take some deep breaths and tell myself smoking is not an option so I have to do something else. Now they are just thoughts. :)

Ok, people besides the normal medications, patches, and nicotine gum. What do you do you do when your craving? I'm looking for some original ideas that I can use. Right now when I crave I eat a Ricola cough drop, or a Werthers original sugar free candy.......
