lol that is a nice one call :) I guess that would be the only bright spot of being in jail not being able to smoke of course that would drive a smoker to his death lol
Bear, that would work! Someone would call the police, you would get arrested, thrown in the pokey, and you cannot smoke in there!
Original indeed!

I love the idea of pretending to be smoking. taking the deep breath in and blowing out.....my only concern is would it be re-enforcing the habit??? Just wondering...cause I like the idea. :)

DARPEL,
In the beginning when they were bad and I needed lots of escape time I would watch a movie to give my brain a rest. It was sort of like an escape for me.
I found walks huge in helping craves. I have lots of woods behind my house with trails. It is peaceful and a nice walk.
Sour Altoids worked wonders for me at the computer. Something about things that were real sour helped.
Escaping with naps helped also. If I was tired...I slept
I also found strong coffee great. I know many associate smoking with coffee....but I found the pick me up helpful.
For munchies (in past quits) I "slowly" ate those pretzel rods. I don't know why I didn't use that this time.
Later on... when the mental games began I would do internet research on smoking. You can find past posts/threads I wrote here on cigarette topics. I think education on smoking gets you to see it for what it is. It fortified me to go another day. (remember..one day at a time)
Hope this helps
Mercy

I used to actually act like I was smoking...I would pretend I had one between my fingers and I would take a big inhale. Then exhale. I worked. When you inhale (as big as you can) think about all the FRESH air you are putting into your lungs. CLEAN 'em out!
P.S. Please don't tell anyone!

When I get a craving some of the steps I do is count from 0 to 10 with deep breaths, I will also chew lots of juicy fruit gum or hard candy jolly rancher fruit chews are my favorite :) And the last thing I will do is drink lots of ice water that is what really helps the most for me.

I used lots of self talk. I'd acknowledge I felt like smoking, but argue back that I wasn't going to because I was a non smoker.
Rewards!!!!!! For the first few weeks I'd take a spoonful of nonfat yogurt or cottage cheese..ok, sometimes a spoonful of peanut butter. I only gained 4 pounds.
Ice cold water. Yummy.
Reading and posting here.
