Airmathea,
When I had my FIRST panic attack at the age of 17, I got the feeling that I was about to faint. I checked my pulse (in my neck) and noticed that it was beating fast, but VERY weakly. My pulse seemed very faint. I know now that this feeling is from the constriction of blood vessels/ arteries in your neck. This occurs without you even knowing it and is a normal part of a panic attack. For some people, this particuliar symptom may be more prominent, for some...non-existent. It seems that this particuliar symptom is a prominent part of your panicking. If you need a friend to talk to...someone who knows exactly what you're going through... send me an instant message. I would be glad to speak with you :) My name is Amanda, and I'm a 22 year old in Atlanta. Here's my AOL messenger name: angelkittenatl
Talk to you soon.
Panic takes many different forms. Sometimes it's just your body reacting to stress, sometimes it comes out of nowhere. It's scary no matter what the cause. You're doing the right thing by sharing your feelings with others. Don't be shy about telling your friends and family how you feel. Everyone knows someone with a similar problem. Knowing there are those out there willing to help makes all the diference in the world.
I feel the same way; have difficulty getting it through my head that it is all anxiety and panic attacks.
I too have gone to doctors and have had all kinds of tests and seeing a psychiatrist and therapist.
Some days are better than others, yesterday it was hell, today I keep expecting to have an attack and so far I feel OK.
I recently found this site and find it very helpful to know there are others in the same boat. :)

Once you have a week completed, look back and see if there are any trends? Then you can print your diary out for yourself or send your results to your doctor.

Airmathea,
Usually when you are having anxiety your heart starts pounding harder and races.
If you feel weak during an attack you may be experiencing low blood sugar. If you have been under a lot of stress for a long period of time, your adrenal glands can get exhausted and that can affect other hormones like insulin and can cause low blood sugar problems.
Low blood sugar can feel like a panic attack except you feel very weak as if the life is going out of you.
I'm not saying that is what is happening to you, but that is what happened to me. Along with trying to get the stress out of my life and practicing relaxation and meditation, I began to eat more protein and ate something every 3 to 4 hours to regulate the blood sugar.
When having one of these episodes, try to drink some soda and see if it makes you feel better.
Hi! To me it is almost hard to believe what panic can make you body feel like. I went for 2 weeks just knowing that I was going to have a heart attack before I went to the doctor. They ran a few tests to check out my heart & determined that everything was normal. They too said that I was suffering from anxiety attacks. Even after hearing that I was still convinced that there was something wrong with my heart & they just weren't finding it. My doctor put me on zoloft. That has been about a month ago now & I am finally starting to feel 'normal' again. Are you taking any medicine now?
