Trish, Congrats on almost being done with Hell Week! That's fantastic! The first couple weeks are the hardest, but after that, it does get a little easier. Just keep going and don't give up! I wouldn't advise getting on NRT at this point... the nicotine is out of your system, so things should start getting easier soon. Way to go on an awesome week of freedom! Reward yourself well for this achievement! The physical stuff should start to get better soon, I hope! Crave the Quit! Thanks! Everyone has been so helpful! I thought I was going crazy!!! Oh and WOW that is alot of cigarettes you haven't smoked! Gross, huh? On my third day it said 76 and I was totally grossed out. I pray to stay as strong as you (well with this kind of withdrawal pain I don't see myself smoking ever again) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $36.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 0 Seconds: 51

Hi. You are doing amazingly! Just keep in your mind that whatever your body is going through now is your bodies way of getting rid of all that sludge! You are purging your body of all the rubbish and you will be so much healthier at the end of it all! :) Drink plenty of water - I forgot to do that and I think it may have helped. Keep it up, you're doing great! (Things have changed since I was last on. How do I add on my mileage?) Trish, Indeed! It isn't uncommon for individuals to experience a surge in anxiety during the first few weeks of quitting. Exercise and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and meditation or journalling may be of great help to you! If you need additional assistance with anxiety, we have a sister site: www.paniccenter.net Keep persevering and congrats on day 6!! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Thank you for your responses! I did visit my doctor and he said that I may be reacting to the adrenaline that the nicotine had blocked. I wasn't sure if it was normal to feel this bad after a week. I was wanting to see if anyone had similar symptoms or if maybe my doctor is full of it. I smoked for 13 years, so I guess I could expect some withdraws. I assumed that it would be psychological, not physical. That's what I was guessing, actually. :) The first week or so can be really tough without any kind of aid. The physical withdrawal can feel pretty exaggerated. You might want to see your doctor about going on the patch. I'm sure that would moderate the severity. On the other hand, you're pretty much through the worst of the physical withdrawal now. If you can hang in there for a few more days, you should see a marked improvement in the physical symptoms. Definately see a doctor, though, if you feel that the physical withdrawal is too much for you! And... don't smoke! :) You've come this far. Don't turn around now!! We're here, Trish. Use us. We can help. Hi Trish I know our bodies go through some really weird changes when we quit. I felt like I was in a fog for months. You might want to call your doctor and get checked out to make sure your smoking wasn't masking something. I hope you feel better real soon. Trish, I felt that way for about 18 days and still do at times. I think it is different for everyone but I have heard many people say they still have physical withdraw symptoms for up to two weeks. I do know it gets better, hang in there.
