Mace, I had lots of tingling in my arms and legs when I first stopped. I also seemed to develop panic or anxiety attacks that came and went for awhile. It all seemed to work its way out as I got further into the quit. If you get concerned go to the doctor I did. She just kind of looked at me and told me to calm down not what I wanted I wanted a magic pill but left there feeling it would pass and once I stopped worrying about it it did. You are doing great hand in there :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 119 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,380 Amount Saved: $773.50 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 19 Mins: 30 Seconds: 22

Mace If this is something that is causing concern, I would most assuredly see a doctor...I have that same sensation in my left leg...It is a tingling sensation and the area in which it most often occurs feels like it is "asleep"...Running helps me work it out, but for me I think it is something to do with either increased blood circulation to the extremities or possibly decreased circulation...I don't know for sure... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 205 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,150 Amount Saved: $1,435.00 Life Gained: Days: 37 Hrs: 10 Mins: 4 Seconds: 29

Mace, Don't worry, I had the same thing, but just in my left leg. I guess it was my way of craving. It went away but now and then it's coming back for a short time. I don't know what it is but everyone has his or her strange cravings I suppose.... You're doing good so far, keep up the good work. Mace, This is not a typical withdrawal symptom. Although it may be due to an increase in circulation, it would be best to check with your doctor should this symptom persist or worsen. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

That is kind of what I thought might be going on. This time of day seems to get bad for me each day. But I am still hanging on hard. I'm not a doctor, but my guess is your muscles and nerve endings along with your brain adjusting to a tremendous amount of oxygen it's getting. Have you ever taken a very deep breath (even as a smoker) and felt tingling down your arms to your fingers? That is the additional oxygen in the blood stream. If you are worried I would call your doctors office and ask. More oxygen gets to your extremities when lieing down as it doesn't have to deal with gravity Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 177 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,540 Amount Saved: $791.19 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 7 Mins: 13 Seconds: 20

I haven't experienced exactly what you describe but something similiar. During the first week or two, my heart will pound and I have difficulty breathing, like I need to take a really big breathe. That is why I yawn a lot in the beginning - to get that big breathe. I too have noticed that it goes away when I sit up. I have also noticed that doing some deep breathing helps. I believe it is partially anxiety related, but may also be related to withdrawal of some substance in cigarettes, not necessarily nicotine, because I use the patch. For me it has gotten better as time goes on, but of course, you should check with your physician if it doesn't. You are doing great. Just keep breathing. I am on my 6th day and still hanging on. I have had this rather strange feeling since quiting. When I am laying down I get this feeling like all of my nerve endings are going nuts. Kind of like I am being shocked but very mildly. That is the best way I can describe it. I was wondering if anyone else has felt this or is it something else going on with me. I gets rather strong at times and it stops when I sit back up. It is begining to kind of worry me. Wish I could explain the feeling better but maybe someone will understand what I mean. Thanks for any information you may know about this.
