John what do you mean "pretty committed"? Is that like being a little bit pregnant? Just curious. Today I had about 4-5 cravings and 2-3 were pretty strong (in comparison to past months) but they only last for maybe 20-30 seconds. I did the Chantix quit method and just went off the drug a week ago so may explain the reason. Felt like being at week two at times. I even resumed a few caughing fits for no apparent reason. I am pretty commited to stay quit though, even with my worse cravings, had there been a cigarette in front of me I would not have touched it. I still think they are disgusting. I had a few moments of not having a crave in the second week of my quit. Since then it's been pretty constant to one degree or other, sometimes mild, sometimes I'd like to take my head off. The mornings are the absolute positive worst. sf, Cravings? No longer and not for a long, long time either. Most of it is in the mind and my conscious mind disassociated with smoking many moons ago. It's just not an issue any more. Triggers? Different thing completely and yes, I still get them after 3 years but you would expect that wouldn't you? The sub-conscious mind has dealt with smoking and its associations for 30 years. It will take longer than 3 years to reprogramme it but we're getting there! How long will triggers last? They are instantaneous but I dwell on them as long as I choose to. They do amaze me sometimes. The circumstances often make me chuckle and the more bizarre the circumstance, the longer I pause and chuckle!! I'm not sure that they will ever leave me completely but they are not a problem to me because I know that I will not be smoking as a result of them, today, tomorrow or any time soon come to that. I'm done with it and that's a good thing! Cheers! Anytime, Straightflop. If it wasn't me, it would have been one of these other terrific quitters. That's what we're here for; to support and encourage each-other... and to share our experience with one-another. We're stronger together! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 123 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,075 Amount Saved: $1,137.75 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 18 Mins: 16 Seconds: 41

Honestly, at the beginning of my quit...some days seemed like one big continuous crave (The time in between was so short) Today, I rarely have craves (except for the odd time when super-stressed of having drinks with smokers) Otherwise, just the odd fleeting smoking thought - gone before I know it. I can hardly wait until smoking is just a distant memory every day! Wow - great discussion. I had them early on in my quit - the first three weeks - but I knew if I gave in I would be right back to where I started - which is NOT where I wanted to be AT ALL. So, the intensity was more like high and then would taper off after about 15 minutes. I guess part of it was that I really went cold turkey myself. Now, it is a passing thought on an occassion.
